I just remembered. I was told a reason why it may be considered a red flag, is “It means they don’t get along with their gender as much. Which may be telling.” I still didn’t get it but I was told it basically means if a girl has a guy best friend, it means other girls don’t like her, so there must be something wrong with her. Stuff like that. Do I believe that? Nope. While it’s possible, it doesn’t seem like the Soccer football Leo Messi Argentina illustration T-Shirt and I love this most common reason I’ve seen. But it may be why it’s a common assumption. It may be for all I know. Afterall, I’m no expert. But everyone has their preferences and experiences so it shouldn’t be taboo to get along with a specific person despite being a different gender. You can have all the opposite (or attracted to) sex friends you want, and I’ll choose to believe you’ll make the right choice. I might sway certain decisions, especially if they involve drinking, or make it a point to partake. If they cheat, it’s over. Do not pass go. We do not talk about it. Your bags are at the door.

I won’t cheat, I refuse to. It happened to me once and it was the Soccer football Leo Messi Argentina illustration T-Shirt and I love this single most emotionally damaging thing just short of my best friend dying. (Who was the opposite sex, and let me tell you, I am glad I put my foot down in relationships and made it clear that girl and I would be friends no matter what, because I would have never forgiven myself if I lost that friendship over a relationship and then she died) I’ll just caution, I had a lot of female friends when I was younger and almost all disappeared because they got a boyfriend that was jealous… Because people are dumb. They say things like “boys and girls can’t be only friends”, if you have a best friend of the opposite gender, they probably assume there’s more going on than what’s present on the surface and so a potential future partner might be irritated by that. Frankly because there are people who don’t respect boundaries, but that’s not limited to having friends of the opposite gender. Have all the friends you want but when you’re in a relationship there needs to be boundaries set to respect the confines of the relationship.
