I’ve gotten used to using the Snowmobile Can’t Solve All My Problems, That’s What the Beer’s For! T-Shirt Also,I will get this phrase, “I’m not a licensed…, but without actually knowing [reads box to them]…” It’s bc Home Depot used to employ professionals. My store has many retired electricians, plumbers, builders, tilers. Weekend and evenings you’d find the part time professionals, people who wanted a little extra income or something to do during their off season. You could even call and make an appointment with our plumbing and electrical guys to help figure out your house problems. Our pro desk had people who worked in multiple fields. In the summer our garden centre had actual greenhouse employees to help you with your plants. But the company has moved away from hiring people who know their fields but still use the tagline ‘talk to a pro today’ which confuses customers into thinking every associate knows everything in their department.

Yeah, worked at lowes a short time. Customer asked questions about plumbing. He was redoing his bathroom. Told him nobody in the Snowmobile Can’t Solve All My Problems, That’s What the Beer’s For! T-Shirt Also,I will get this store made enough money to own a home. None of us were remodeling our bathrooms on the weekend. Many of my coworkers couldn’t even qualify to rent a studio apartment without a roommate. Unfortunately, that is what customers expect out of Lowes/HD. To have at least one trained employees in their department. I used to tell customers that I could do it for you, however I won’t be responsible if their house blows up or burns down… It’s the commercials. Home improvement box stores (and renovation shows on TV) imply that it’ll be nothing for a below average Joe to renovate their own house in a Saturday afternoon, and the orange vested employees will cheerfully walk them through every step while in store!
