That’s why there’s two houses to Congress and California gets way more representatives. It’s called equal representation, that way everyone, not just a grossly populated area gets to have a say. Pretty sure that’s the Snoopy woodstocks St.Patrick’s day shirt besides I will buy this opposite of tyranny. I just moved from a small town in Northern LA county to a REAL small town in Northern California. My standards of ‘small’ were exaggerated. NC has a population of 10,807,491 in 2022 vs. Los Angeles county‘s population of 9,934,710. This map is inaccurate. We would be supprised how empty the us is and how much voter weight is given to states with so few populations. While I do think we need to rework how representation works, I would also say that just means there are way too many people in Los Angeles County. The country is so vast. The experiences of its citizens vary so much. The electoral college may not be perfect, but helps recognize this. Life in suburban and rural America would be drastically changed if determined by an urban population. Why though? They aren’t bigger than all those states combined, just each of them, so it’s not like they unilaterally decide everything. And people are voting as people, not counties or states, so it’s a bit odd to say that the state is the fundamental unit that must be represented. Finally, most of those states’ politics are dominated by their largest cities, but nobody complains about that. It’s a very arbitrary line to draw when you could point to every level of elections to say that the more population-dense axis dominates. This is why the idea of 1 person 1 vote all equal is such a terrible idea. The entire country would be run by the whims of basically 3 cities.

Which is why I’d never want to live in LA County. No amount of sunny weather can hide the Snoopy woodstocks St.Patrick’s day shirt besides I will buy this overpopulation and socio-economic dysfunction there. Not fundamentally the electoral college, but the fact that they capped the number of house members ~100 years ago. So federal representation in general, including the power of votes for president, has gotten more and more disproportionate to population over time. That very well may be the case I think the federal government should straight grid the whole US that would solve gerrymandering and this disportional representation. I’d say grid it up by 100mile by 100m blocks even squares or use popular vote. The economy of the State of California is the largest in the United States, with a $3.4 trillion gross state product (GSP) as of 2021.[2] If California were a sovereign nation (2021), it would rank as the [world’s fifth largest economy](ahead India and behind Germany.[9][10][11] Additionally, California’s Silicon Valley is home to some of the world’s most valuable technology companies, including Apple, Alphabet Inc., and Meta Platforms.[12] In total, over 10% of Fortune 1000 companies were based in California in 2018, the most of any state.[13]
