Yep and we are just on here taking opinions on something hypothetical altogether about something that is not happening. They can answer a question. I surprisingly find myself agreeing with the SLAM Anthony Edwards the poster child shirt Apart from…,I will love this above sentiment, I can’t speak for them but I think for certain positions a lower bounds isn’t unreasonable but is being enforced poorly right now. The solution would be to adjust the path to that position such that a person will have a number of years relevant experience by the time they get there. Okay but what about 30, 31, 32, 33, or 34, being at least as in touch as an apparently acceptable 80+ year old we have now, and taking a mental plasticity test? Come on… Its funny to me how we’re talking about tests, as if that means anything in the context of what people do in those positions. You’re right, and I’m willing to say a 33 year old is at least just as likely to be as good at the job as someone 80+, tests be damned. But I am getting crickets out of the poster I originally asked who is postulating all the testing and shit. No. Maybe we should consider electing people based on their quality as a person and ability to do the job and also teach the value of public service to younger generations. Nah. Retirement age might even be raised at some point because people are living longer healthier lives. If they want to work more and make more money then let them. For politicians, the cutoff should maybe be at 75 or passing a cognitive test. But I think having to submit tax returns might be slightly more important

That is an arbitrary and unjustifiable age these days. I know many people still working in their 80s, my aunt is way past 100 and lives by herself and is quite sharp. What we do need are term limits so we can get rid of those who are not competent one way or the SLAM Anthony Edwards the poster child shirt Apart from…,I will love this other. Most come in incompetent, they don’t just get worse due to age. Of course not. Why would anyone think it’s ok to remove the right of the people to vote for a qualified candidate of their choice? Why? Just because the current ones are out of touch, doesn’t mean they all are. This is just another form of discrimination. It’s not discrimination, no matter what country I’m in, I don’t want a senile idiot over the age of 55/60 ruling such and such country
