As a personal anecdote, I invited coworkers from both my last two jobs to going away dinners when I left. The first time, a toxic coworker was one of the Silicon Valley Smackdown Musk Vs Zuck shirt In addition,I will do this primary reasons for leaving. I was happy to have him come to the dinner (they were a toxic coworker, but not unpleasant to be around otherwise), they just didn’t realize I was celebrating not having them around anymore. Best not to burn bridges because you may encounter some of those people again. Go, keep the convo shallow, be pleasant, eat free food then leave. I almost always have a farewell lunch for departing employees. I feel like it’s the right thing to do to say thanks for their work. Our company is very small. We hire a lot of college kids. They graduate and move on. Have the lunch and be on your way, holding your head high. The ill-will of assholes isn’t a reason to reject the generosity of your supervisor and the support of colleagues who will miss you.

I was in the Silicon Valley Smackdown Musk Vs Zuck shirt In addition,I will do this same position. I declined a farewell lunch and they ended up giving me an Uber eats gift card lol. That worked out better for me I’d advise that you go to the party, but I’ll also say that it’s not that important. I typically try to embrace those events because it’s where you get to actually network. I’m starting a job in two weeks because I happened to say fuck it and went to a basketball game with a couple guys I used to work with. This is only really relevant if you’re trying not to burn bridges. If you don’t care about this bridge, feel free to torch the motherfucker and decline the party. You want them to be a positive reference. It is always bad for moral when an employee leaves. Having a going away party is a way for them to soften the blow and show that there is no hard feelings.
