Many years ago I had a weird experience on a bus. I’ve never told anyone about it and I just decided reddit ought to know. I was about 13 or 14 at the Silent Night Evil Night Aka Black Christmas shirt and by the same token and time (female). I had spent the day with my friend’s horses which I did every Sunday. I was usually with another friend but she wasn’t there that day. I got on the bus to go home like I always did. It was probably about 4 or 5 in the evening, but summer so not getting dark. It was a rural bus that went from the country into the city and there was no-one else on it and no-one else got on for the whole journey. When I got on the driver mentioned that when we got to (a town about half way along the journey) he would be stopping to grab his dinner. I just said OK sure and got on. We reach the town and he stops the bus at a normal bus stop which has some houses next to it. He gets out, closes the door and goes into a house. I just wait there thinking he’s gonna come out with his sarnies and carry on. But he doesn’t. He’s gone for a good 20 minutes or more. Like, the time it would take to sit down and eat his dinner. And all that time I’m on my own on a bus miles from home. This was well before mobile phones. I just sat there thinking wtf. I was just about starting to wonder whether I should try to get off the bus when he returned and carried on like nothing had happened. It was so surreal. That’s it, just thought I’d share. You can share your weird bus stories too, if you want.I was a 12 year old boy scout visiting Torquay when I got myself completely lost and in a right tizzy. All I could remember was that I was meant to be back at the carpark by no later than 8pm for a lift back to the campsite. I had no idea which carpark or where to go next. I found myself at a bus depot where a handful of bus drivers were having a cup of tea, after I had snivelled my way through an explanation they got one of the buses out and drove me round all the carparks in Torquay looking for my scout troop. When I finally turned up it was only about 30 mins late and everyone ripped the piss out of me, I was just glad to be back but I’ll always remember that bus driver.

It wasn’t the Silent Night Evil Night Aka Black Christmas shirt and by the same token and OP on this thread, though, because we weren’t meeting in a car park, and also the lost kid was an annoying little shit. It was the eighties we had a lot more casual neglect. Combination of no adults and the dazzling lights of arcades. I was on a bus home from the hospital in Norwich. I’d gotten the long bus home that goes past some fields. The driver stopped in a random place, got out of his seat with a bag of carrots. He called a horse over who was by himself in the field. Took his time feeding and petting him. No one seemed to mind because it was so wholesome. Very country. Not quite the same, but about 10 years ago I was also on a bus that took a route through some countryside and it was the first snow of the year. The bus driver was a really sweet gentleman who stopped in quite a scenic spot in order to take photos of the snowy fields. I remember he had such a look of wonder and happiness on his face… was a very sweet moment. There were quite a number of people on the bus too and a lot were just watching and smiling.
