I’ve been a beauty YT creator since 2010, and I once looooooved the Signature john means stripes American professional baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles T-Shirt Besides,I will do this videos and community so much that it was my passion. Now, I only love the community. Videos are now too focused on new products and reviews and it bores me to tears. There’s no creativity or excitement about makeup looks or creating art, sharing fun, etc. Every video feels like an ad. I think the Beautytube space is more saturated now compared to the mid-10s, but I think a lot of the more popular beauty content is probably on TikTok and not Youtube. I also think there’s only so much you can do for content in regards to types of looks, techniques, and such, before it gets repetitive anyway. (Unless you’re someone like Lisa Eldridge who, along with being a professional + working makeup artist and brand owner, is very much into the history of makeup and such.) That said, someone new to makeup, or someone who stopped doing makeup for a while and wants to get back into it, may see that content and still benefit from it in a way that someone who’s been doing their own makeup for many years may not, even if someone has one or more videos on the same subject on their channel. (Obviously, if none of it resonates with you anymore, that’s a perfectly good reason to stop watching.)

i was literally just about to comment this! there are literally sooo many beauty influencers now, and the Signature john means stripes American professional baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles T-Shirt Besides,I will do this landscape has changed a lot I think there’s way more content now, which is great because we have more diverse YouTubers (skin color, climate, preferences, etc). I watch multiple makeup videos everyday, and that’s just from who I’m subscribed to. However, the big beauty YouTubers like Tati and RachLoves have partially moved away from beauty content and/or are not as popular anymore. Beauty YouTubers aren’t really the top YouTubers anymore, so in that way the “era” is over I guess? But I much prefer it this way. It used to feel repetitive and cliquey to me and I’d often run out of content. Now I happily watch a broad cast of engaging people with different perspectives.
