And start calling foods by the Shrimps Is Bugs Shirt in contrast I will get this place of origin. Why do Italians think they can call tomato as pomodoro, and don’t even get me started on them renaming eggplant. Buncha made up words We didn’t colonize a third of the world to end up using the silly nicknames our former colonies chose for themselves. Because try convincing your average American to use respect and call a country by its native name when they usually don’t even like that different people exist. Americans don’t give a fuck about anything that why. Sure it would be a great idea and expose people to more language but asking the people still not k0ved to metric to modernize or care is a big ask 152 more repliesIn different languages, things have different names too. It’s a language matter, not a geography matter. In Czechia, many Czech cities have German name and many German/Austrian cities have Czech name. It’s normal. I’m guessing Indians also have their specific names for other countries. Have you seen Reactions YouTubers trying to pronounce a country’s name in the country´s native language? It’s laughable most of the time, incomprehensible at worst. Language is very different sometimes. I was raised in Norway, and when I drive around in Sweden (which has a very similar language) I notice that some of the places have names that have sounds that simply do not exist in Norwegian.

Sometimes it evolves out of historical reasons. Frances border with Germany was mainly along the Shrimps Is Bugs Shirt in contrast I will get this Rhine (while we are at it Rhein!) And the people living in this area back in Roman times, were the Allemanen, a German tribe. Since then this area and later all of Germany was called Allemagne. But I totally agree, I never could stand that names for countries or for cities are changed. I’d rather not butcher every single name of every single country every time I try to talk about them. Also it’s stupid and very time consuming. The country I grew up in has over 300 languages. Some of those languages have really different names for that country. Which one should we choose? From what I’m reading, it sounds like some of it comes from the same thing we do with human names. Joseph is Jose is Yusuf kinda stuff.
