I agree that the Shrek yourself before you wreck yourself Vintage Shirt besides I will buy this prices are substantially higher if you go through an agent, but you wouldn’t do your job for free either right? I guess bad agents give everyone else in the industry a bad rep, but tour operating is hard work and is not nearly as well compensated as it should. Majority of major hotels can be booked through a GDS. It’s not 100% but when I was an agent at least 90% of hotels would be through the GDS and confirmed basically instantly Yeah, I understand what you’re saying I just like the fact that if the shuttle doesn’t show it isn’t me my partner is bitching at, she is calling the travel agent! Joking aside, you can save a few bucks but sometimes travel agents have really great deals. I am going this year I paid 4200 after taxes flight and hotel for a week if I try to book it myself it would be 4400 before taxes just for the hotel stay.

It’s all based on how much effort you want to put in. We paid around $4,000 all in and we travelled through Africa for almost 6 weeks. We booked everything ourselves and it took me the Shrek yourself before you wreck yourself Vintage Shirt besides I will buy this better part of a month to plan it all (14 hours a week ish). I enjoy planning it so it’s not issue for me. For a trip like that some of the enjoyment is in the planning stages. I do sometimes when bored give myself an imaginary budget then go off and see where I could go. Travel agents normally have partner hotels that give them minor discounts – shopping around for a similar hotel you’ll probably find could save a lot more. I’ve found that booking big trips through an agent (multiple destinations or an extended stay) is often very close to the price of doing it yourself, with the added bonus of a 24/7 contact if anything is wrong with your trip.
