I don’t get why takeaway food is so popular in the Shonen Anime Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this UK. The quality in general is absolutely terrible and it’s really expensive The biggest cost is usually labour, so you can start by looking at the UK minimum wage against the minimum wage in Jordan Large fast food chains can afford to undercut local competition in order to steal their customers, get them to close up shop, and then they can raise prices. Pizza Hut are nuts. I’m in Belgium and it’s 15-20€ for a pizza (the small one iir) and +7€ if you want the cheezy crust. What ?! A pizza in any cosy italian place here is 10-18€ for the large one that you end up taking home in a doggie bag. In the UK, a lot of (/all) cheaper chain restaurants don’t sell particularly good quality food. I suspect that a lot of different cultures won’t have that kind of restaurant because either they have more of a home cooking culture or they just have takeaways to fill the “cheap and cheerful” niche so only more premium restaurants exist. Minimum wage in Jordan is roughly $2.10 an hour. Their taxes and fuel costs are probably much lower as well. Of course the price of any like for like service is going to be cheaper. Yes I agree if the price difference was the same across the board but it’s strange for one type of restaurant to be more expensive then uk and another to be cheaper than uk. You would think they would both be more expensive or both be cheaper

Just wait until you visit Asia here will be a time when as Europeans/Americans we’ll understand our quality of life is not so unique land rent, staff costs, lower market competition, franchisee cost & competition, acceptable profit levels to survive for franchisee all contribute to pricing but mostly pricing is “what is maximum price and minimum quality people will put up with’ and UK is a more developed market for chain fast food. We have VAT on hot food which includes takeaway food. Takeaway food here isn’t much cheaper than sitting in a restaurant. Eg KFC Vs wetherspoons
