Started talking to travelers and found out it was “St Patrick’s day back in May” that weekend. St Pattys day had been cancel that year due to hoof and mouth disease restricting travel.

Great! I thought this will be awesome. However there were no accommodations at all available within 100km. Young daughter and I sitting on a bench laughing at what I did and a park employee comes out and asks us if we want to open the park, sure, why not. No idea what we are doing we follow him in. They give my daughter an autograph book and we get a certificate with the date and “ The Mother_rents opened the park” it was nice. The guy said wait here, and a little fire engine came and picked us up and took us on a tour of the park while it was closed, very cool. We still have no clue what the heck is going on. Little fire engine stops at a train, where Mickeys house is and the driver tells us to wait there so we wait and chat with the engineer. Then all the characters start coming out of Mickeys house, ALL of them. They are high fixing our daughter, signing her new book and the ones that can talk are talking to us. So cool for the little one, and us. Then Mickey grabs daughter’s hand and walks to the train with her, we all get on the steam train and off we go. We stop for a bit and one of the characters gives us a handful of confetti, we still have no clue. The train starts again, we turn the corner, a band starts playing and the announcer says “here is the Mothers_rent family to open the park” we throw the confetti, hundreds of people cheer and they open the park. Then Mickey takes her hand again and we go around the corner and they take pictures with the family and Mickey. All high fives and off they go. I turn to my daughter and say “that’s the best dad can do” To this day my wife does not complain about me having to be places early. Except dinner parties, but that is a different story.
