You point out that almost every single other wealthy country has universal health care and they’ll shrug and make some excuse about how people from poor countries come to the US for treatment, not realizing that every wealthy nation has people from poorer nations coming to them for treatment, and that the US is the best country ever so the fact that they have for-profit health care must be part of that. More educated or well travelled ones will admit that it would be nice, but have their misgivings that their own government would be able to administer it properly.

Pretty sure Americans are just brainwashed and can’t comprehend it’s ranking super low on literally any quality of life index The money has to come from somewhere. You pay for it whether you want to or not. And when you allow a government mafia to monopolize an industry, they tend to not give a shit about what the consumer wants or needs and it tends to be more expensive because of the bureaucracy. The problem with the American system is too much government involvement. They get paid off by the pharmaceutical, insurance, and medical giants to pass laws and regulations which benefit them and harm their competition which would actually help consumers. They do things like using government to force everyone to do unnecessary things and spend more to give some treatment and this harms their competition more than them because they can afford to take the hit, whereas their competition cannot. This gives them dominance over the market. Things are expensive here because the giants run everything and we have no other options. We don’t have options because of the government.
