I’m convinced it’s some dumber psychological reason than that. They want something serious, just not with a guy that’s “rushing” into a relationship. A guy that shows interest in a committed relationship is seen as a guy that doesn’t have other options or is desperate. Since dating has become so commodified today, a lot of girls seem to immediately lose interest after realizing they “won” a guy over. I mean a lot (not all but enough) of guys will also say they want a relationship to get laid. I’ve had two guys in my life tell me they wanted a relationship with me, only to leave or cheat once they got what they wanted out of me. As a result, men who want to rush into a relationship are a major red flag because it’s all to remniscient of a manipulation tactic. It makes dating feel like you’re walking on a god damn tightrope, and then once you throw in the fact that pretty much every girl in my dating age range has some sort of baggage from a prior relationship and it’s really just not fun to be single as a guy. Lots of women express the same complaints that “every guy just wants sex but none are interested in a relationship” meanwhile most guys I know who are single long for a relationship and would take it over hookups any day. It feels like there’s some serious disconnect where a handful of guys are bouncing from girl to girl while most other guys get nothing.
