I was on the 192 night bus in Manchester, top deck. Some lads got up from the backseat got up, went down the bus shutting all of the windows (must have been summer), then got off. Didn’t think much of it until a few minutes later when we smelled smoke. They had lit newspapers on the back seat on their way out. We’d had a few drinks so went straight back there and stamped the fire out before it could really get going, then continued on the journey. Every now and then I wonder what the plan was? I got on that to go back to a girls house in Stockport once- it made me feel guilty I’d been so casual about meeting her for drinks in Manchester on previous occasions and having to get the bus back. We were on the 142 after our first year prom and someone lit a joint on it. The bus driver stopped the bus and refused to carry on unless whoever was smoking left. We got off because we were close to our stop and couldn’t be arsed to wait. We must have looked so guilty but I swear it wasn’t us! Was on an early evening bus in Morecambe/Lancaster a few years ago. I was new to the place and, after having caught this bus to the Sainsbury’s on the outskirts of Morecambe, had accidentally got on a bus going away from Lancaster rather than to it, so ended up in some place in Morecambe that I didn’t know (nor felt comfortable sticking around for long in) with very little phone battery left. Thankfully, I managed to get on one of the regular buses back into Lancaster, which was going to stop at the bus station for a bit, let passengers on, then continue on to the uni campus.

I asked if i could pay to get back, he said no and then drove off.
