I have 3 kids in 3 schools. I get so many papers, fliers, emails, texts, several different communication apps like class dojo, ParentSquare… Honestly what would happen if you didn’t pay the San Francisco 49ers Go Niners You’ll Never Walk Alone Signatures Shirt moreover I will buy this fee but did the things anyway? Sent your child to school in a costume and just took the artwork? Does the school have any legal grounds to stop you? The costume one I get, but the artist holds copyright of the original artwork, not the school. (Unless the kid signed a contract) so the school can’t actually sell the artwork to the parents. same every single week its something. honestly im broke, so I don’t donate unless I can. but im not donating everyweek. to enter the open house for my kindergartener they required you bring a donation. I bought toothbrushes bc I am broke. I am living in poverty and going to food banks. this country can go fuck themselves. im tired of it, it’s not just school, its stores, and restaurants. no. I am not rounding up my groceries when I can barely afford them as is. go ask the billionaires to cut back on their private jet expenses

Asking for donations is one thing, but requiring a “donation” to receive your child’s artwork is not a donation LOL. We can make artwork at home if your gonna charge for it lol As a teacher (though not in US) my school recently had an art show fundraiser and each class made a communal artwork to buy (e.g. year 3 class took a white wooden patio chair and all the San Francisco 49ers Go Niners You’ll Never Walk Alone Signatures Shirt moreover I will buy this kids in the class put their handprint on it) but kids individual artworks were not for sale, just on display for people to see. I average the school asking me for money 3 times a week. It varies in severity from begging to hostage negotiations. The one time I did give it was too small to not get a passive aggressive comment so they’ve gotten 0 for the last 15 years (multiple kids) Don’t get me started on my older kids school though! They are constantly asking for money. Selling chocolates, artwork, bake sales etc. but the real kick is when they upped the $440 annual fee to $500 to “keep up with the cost of living crisis”
