The entire arena section- I think the S.a.a.u.s.o assassination classroom anime shirt in other words I will buy this “flood” plot was something people were split on, but I linked it since it raised the Riddler’s stakes a few notches. What I didn’t like were the weird inconsistency with the rest of the movie’s tone. The slashing of the electric line with Batman falling in slowmo with it to zero consequence came off as strange. The mayor getting shot and then seemingly being fine immediately after felt very “hollywood”. Batman “parting the red sea” with him walking with the flair through the water was pretty to watch, but so heavy handed. Just a mixed bag all round. Alfred- Barely had a role. Opened a package dumbly considering he had military training. The Length- Good lord Hollywood cannot control themselves lately, every movie just seems to be much longer than necessary. They could have cut 20 minutes of Batman walking slowly through different areas of interest in a crime scene. Him walking slowly worked great when he was trying to be intimidating, when he was detective mode it just looked stupid. As mentioned before, the Falcone story line was pretty unnecessary and could have been cut. I might be the only one with this problem, but was the dialog between Gordon and Batman unnecessarily quiet to everyone else? The whispering scene in the GCPD sounded just like all their scenes.

The Joker- What the S.a.a.u.s.o assassination classroom anime shirt in other words I will buy this fuck was that rug-pull. Worst part of the movie, seemed like some studio meddling. The ending with Batman and Catwoman riding off together. So saccharine. Joker scene could easily have been post credit scene. Not only was it unnecessary, it was pretty bad. Joker scene was horrible. Like we finally get a new villain and it’s great. We’ve been through so many jokers Kinda glad I’m not the only one who feels that way. Me and my gf were looking at each other like “THIS is supposed to be Joker…?” It was a very bad scene, especially when Batman has so many other villains that would’ve fit well The pacing really needed to speed up at times but it was overall pretty great. Good foundation here that makes me excited for sequels. I see a lot of people complaining about Joker once again being in these films, and I sort of agree… I have serious Joker fatigue…. but let’s not pretend why he’s iconic. It’s because of how well his character meshes with Batman and is the opposite side of the coin. I’m not sure how I’d feel if he wasn’t introduced at some point. This was not a great way of doing so but having a smaller reference in this film with builing up a reveal in the 2nd or third would have been better. Even if it is a Hannibalesque way. I’d be interest if they had that for the sequel and it ended with Joker breaking out and being the final villain for the third film. Maybe bringing in the villains from preceding films with him. A sort of Long Halloween.
