If everyone in your country looks like you, you tend to prefer better choices in policy, like rehabilitation over punishment. We make a lot of praise of Europe but that’s only because they have higher homogeneity. I paid $425 (out of a monthly cheque of $610) once for a room like this. Difference being I was free (as one can be on $610 a month) and my place had bedbugs. This looks a lot like my freshman year college dorm room– except it’s bigger and nicer ??‍♀️ Kinda like a NYC apartment, too LOL My dorm room wasn’t even as good as that. Sure it sucks to be in prison but this looks like a trip to a school camp. I’ve heard they can get a computer as well if they pay for it? I remember this article where a Norwegian (professor or smn like that) explained it that a prison is about depriving someone of his freedom which is the highest and intended form of punishment by law. Anything other than that like filthy cell, poor meal or scary inmates is not part of the punishment, cannot be controlled and does not contribute to the rehabilitation process thus redundant and even harmful. My personal opinion is that every society deserves their own form of prison (except Gulags of course, we are talking about normal regimes). You cannot put Russian maniac Slivko who hung teenagers and recorded their asphyxiation on a video in a room like that. There is nothing to rehabilitate in Slivko but a lot of justice to be delivered. Edit: it sounded like Norway doesn’t have their maniacs. Probably that’s an error in my opinion, but I hope they don’t keep their slivkos in a room like that. Anyone who has a hope in rehabilitation of ted bunnies, chicatilos is either a hopeless naive or a fool.

Other counties that have the same view on escape are Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Austria and some other countries. They believe that it’s only human nature to want to escape from being confined. Makes sense to me. You mean they’re trying actual rehabilitation? And treating those charged as though they’re still human beings? Even when they get caught with some pot on them a couple times? The infamous Varg Vikernes traveled 9 hours to murder a “friend” of his and was only sentenced to 21 years. He only did 16 even after escaping and had similar luxuries while incarcerated.
