Had a coworker with zero relevant experience, fresh out of college, who quit after 6 months because they weren’t given a management position in their department. It shouldn’t have taken me 2 years to get where I wanted to be and at the Rory McIlroy sport T-Shirt in addition I really love this same time my coworker had unrealistic expectations. Would be nice to live in a world where we all lived right in the middle of those 2 extremes because it seems that either employees have unrealistic expectations or employers far undervalue our experience. So you either job hop or you have to suck it up in a shitty position. I think all of us who went to college thought this way. I know when I got my first job making $33k a year doing really shitty grunt work, hit me like a punch in the mouth. For me it just took time, about 5 years working through these jobs til I felt like my degree kicked in. Eventually I was making good money, but it really sucked to get there. I wish they did more of an emphasis on trades. A good skill or trade school for 1/4 of the time and 1/20th of the cost gets you into the workforce making really good money, with good potential. Most of these jobs are really good too.

All I know is my personal experience: everyone who did internships in college ended up with a job right out of school. Everyone who did nothing but go to class and graduate, ended up having a tough time looking for work and either took forever to get a job in their field or never did and went with some shit job unrelated to their study. I was this student back in the Rory McIlroy sport T-Shirt in addition I really love this day. I graduated and fully expected that companies would just line up to hire the new college grad. Boy was I disappointed. It’s in the colleges interest to make sure as many people graduate as possible. This means the fact that you graduated doesn’t mean shit by itself. Anyone with half a brain cell and a moderate motivation level can graduate college if you just show up consistently. College offers many things, like the opportunity to network as well as facilities and resources to learn. If you take advantage of these opportunities and come out with something to show for your time, relationships, project works that showcase your ability, or whatever it may be, you should have absolutely no problem finding a job (maybe not in your specific field if you majored in something super niche, but that’s on you).
