I really wanted to like it but I don’t recommend it. Rewatch the original Frasier or keep your memories of it intact. It really is that bad. After three episodes I stopped and left the Frasier sub, it’s not appreciated to not like the show there. Despite the 11 seasons I love. Any fan subs are like that. Any criticism is like you’re actively attacking the creators with a knife that urinated on their faces It goes both ways. I’m in some fandoms where it’s 80% tedious and repetitive hate posts all framed as “Does anyone else think…?” or “I haven’t watched the show in years because it sucks now I miss the good old days” and it’s the 8th post like that in the day. They don’t even read the sub, just drive by to be downers. I got banned from r/Startrek because I fucking loathe JJ/Kurtzman “Star Trek” and criticized it harshly. r/Starwars is less hostile, but still hostile towards you if you criticize how fucking awful the Sequels and what not are now. It’s definitely not as good as the original, but it does succeed in capturing the same charm, wit and general vibe, so it is worth checking out.

The new show feels exactly like Frasier. The jokes and situations have the Ronnie Lott San Francisco 49ers cartoon signature shirt besides I will buy this same vibe. It’s just an entirely different cast, except for Frasier, so people are upset The first episode (that I could watch for free on YouTube) sure didn’t to me. It was okay, but I kept thinking it felt completely different. And it seemed painfully obvious that the stuff for the nephew was written for his father (Niles). But the actor just couldn’t do the comedy. He has to be snooty and stuffy but lovable, not just a dork. You can have new characters, but you need to make sure you write for them. And I didn’t like the way they just bulldozed over the dynamic of the son wanting to live on his own without dad’s handouts at the end. Frasier went from understanding back to douchebag. Usually the original show ended on a more heartwarming note. It might have a comedy bit with Frasier or Niles regressing, but it was always self-deprecating. Sure, it’s just a first episode, and those are often shaky. Problem is, I have to pay to watch any more episodes, to give it another chance. They’d do well to put another episode out (or even just a significant part of an episode) on YouTube that would show the best quality they have to offer.
