I disagree. Suicide is done in the Ronald Acuña Jr Enjoy the show signature shirt and I will buy this heat of the moment. If suicide was painless, 100% accessible and instant, I would have chosen to do it years ago. But I’ve now mostly sorted out my depression and am more or less happy. (side note, if I was american and had easy access to a firearm at 18 then I’d also likely be dead or brain damaged). Assisted suicide? I’m 100% on board with that. It requires pre-meditation, planning, and ensuring that it’s the correct decision. It’s not something that should happen on a whim when you’re depressed, upset, drunk, or otherwise impaired. So your argument is to take them away so people don’t reliably kill themselves but instead have to resort to less reliable methods that just leave them fucked up for the rest of their life or in a coma? Where did I say take them away? You are using a straw man argument. Yes guns are dangerous and for suicides have a very high mortality rate per attempt, what I was saying was that in the gun debate the high number of gun suicides needs to be a part of the debate on guns in America and not ignored as if somehow gun suicides don’t matter, because they are suicides.

Kinda like your strawman? “gun advocates try to say that the Ronald Acuña Jr Enjoy the show signature shirt and I will buy this gun suicides don’t matter when it comes to the debate on guns as people attempting suicide would find some other method.” We (gun advocates) don’t say that. We call for better mental health resources to help people who are desperate enough to consider suicide. We also call out people who oppose gun rights when they include suicide numbers in their gun violence statistics to artificially inflate the numbers. Every time I have been in a discussion online about gun regulation and have mentioned domestic violence and suicides (two of the biggest causes of gun deaths) I have encountered the argument that suicides don’t matter as they would have found some other option.
