I’m a correctional officer at a prison in North Carolina. I have been trying to promote to a sergeant position at my facility. Long story short, I applied, interviewed and blew it OUT of the Rod Wave Shirt In addition,I will do this water. I should have gotten the position-no question. They did not hire me or anyone else for that matter and reposted the position. I re-applied and they canceled my application. I’ve now been told it’s because of some sort of order they hire people based on race? Something my facility came up with. Basically, the sergeant they hired prior to me was white and now they will not hire me no matter how well I interview/qualify for the position because I’m also white. The order is black, white, hispanic, repeat. Same if it was a black person back to back/ hispanic back to back. The Dept of Corrections in NC has standard discrimination policies in place saying the usual, “you will not be discriminated against based on race, gender, orientation, etc.” So HOW is my facility doing this?I agree and think OP is only getting part of the story from Lt or Lt is misunderstands the process. OP talk to HR/hiring supervisor and ask what boxes you need to check to be a more competitive candidate for the position and explain that it’s your career goal. With the vacancy rates in most facilities I find it very hard to believe that the administration is holding out for a person of specific race to come along to fill the spot. Best of luck.

100% of the Rod Wave Shirt In addition,I will do this time in my life when someone didn’t get an opportunity and blamed it on them being white, they were just lacking and didn’t want to admit it. This is exactly my experience. I think that people who have this reaction already has a predisposition to believe ensuring that all candidates have a fair chance, takes the fairness away from them. No one is taking their fair chance away, they are removing the opportunity for someone to have an upper hand based on those who hire to only hire those that look like them. They can’t won’t see that so they lock in that they were cheated. He thinks he blew it out of the water; his thoughts are irrelevant. The decision maker did not agree and give the post I can infer why.
