Cool let’s forgive all debt then for everyone including mortgages, credit cards etc & we should do this for all debt going forward so nobody has any debt forever & ever. I work and have worked very hard to make sure I don’t take any loans, I do every other term working on my current path I can graduate with 50k or more in savings. I work, live cheaply, and took a career that is in demand. I’m one of those people who paid off my loans just recently. And I am 100% for forgiving as much of student loans as possible. I thought I was on track for the public employee forgiveness program. But when I was within about a year of having my 10 years of service in, I discovered that I had misunderstood what type of loan qualified. I thought any government subsidized loan qualified. It turns out that your loan had to be a direct loan through the government, not just subsidized by the government. Because my University at the time I went to college only went through private banks for student loans, that’s what mine was. I’m sure I’m not the only one who confused government subsidized with direct government loan types. Needless to say I pretty much cried my eyes out that day, I was so mad. The amount left on my loan, while still significant, wasn’t worth trying to convert my loans to a government direct loan to start the 10-year clock all over again, so I started paying the highest payment that I could so that I could get them paid off as fast as possible. It didn’t make sense to pay the lowest amount anymore every month. Especially since when I got my loans, the interest rate was about 8%, and there was no way for me to change that.

It’s not that most people don’t support this. They want actual reform. Not just a clean slate for whoever gets lumped into it. Reform needs to happen for the Rock and roll pop punk is not dead band music T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this next generations. Genuinely, how does loan forgiveness solve the underlying problem though? It will only benefit the people advocating for it. What does it do for people who are entering college in 5 years? How does it bring the cost of college down long term? Subsidized loans and “free” money only benefit colleges who have little to no incentive to care how you do after you leave. If it was way less expensive 60 years ago, then unravel the things that schools have added on since, that seem to exist to exist. Spoartz! Shouldn’t cost anyone other than the players ANY money. And the coaches should get paid like idk what would you pay someone to play a game?
