She went over to their house for dinner one time and complimented her friend’s shirt, so he just took it off and gave it to her! From what I understand, it was a very nice and somewhat expensive shirt and my Mom was really confused, but after some quick explanations and a good laugh, it was returned to him. Nordic people in general likes leaving their kids outside. I’m Swedish and it’s very common to leave small children to nap outside – even in winter. Its absolutely amazing how much more independence other parts of the world give children vs my own The episode where the boy went to get some groceries and flowers from the store melted my heart when he was dragging the flowers home because they were as big as him There’s a culture somewhere where they don’t have a word for left or right, but they will say things like „my northern foot“ and „my southern foot“, and you grow up to always be aware of where your north is, whichever way you are standing. I find that amazing.
