I had heard this here and there because I am a red head, and then one day it was confirmed. Me and a fellow red head were just walking around downtown when a bachelorette party of all black women literally ran up to us and asked if they could take pictures with us. Hands down one of the Richaun Holmes American professional basketball player the Washington Wizards T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this weirdest experiences of my life. They give the best hugs. This is coming from a 50 year old GenX guy. Their hugs fill your love bucket, fix your back problems, and threaten you not to mess up when you walk out the door. The last school I taught at had a Black Student Union that met in my classroom (Their advisor was from another school and didn’t have a room at ours so I offered mine as their club space). I got to know the kids that attended, and the girls would often eat lunch in my classroom. They became some of my absolute favorite people. Warm, radiant, hilarious, didn’t take shit from anyone and determined to defy statistics and crush their goals. I miss those girls!! Strength of character. Resilience in the face of every obstacle. Beauty, true human beauty. Survival. Life. JOY. We are all human and we are all subject to the same things. All women are beautiful. All humans are spectacular. Our differences, is what makes us work as a society. It’s to be celebrated. I would add kind and generous to this list. They stand-up for themselves and take no prisoners, but they are unbelievably kind, too. Straight up. “Black girl magic” is definitely a real thing. They’re the backbone of most everything good in society and you can fight me on this, I’ll die on that hill. Sassy and assertive without being unreasonable (e.g. the Karen stereotype is white). Mothers who take no nonsense but who are also incredibly caring. People who take care of their appearance, and who age very well. Wise. Hard-working. Devout without being pushy about it. The kind of people who deserve respect and who form the glue that holds their community together. The only trouble with an escape room is that it doesn’t fill much time – normally just 45-50 mins or so if you’re half good. A nice idea to combine with something else though. Ouija in Charminster scared the living bejesus out of me, but was still great fun and bonding experience with friends
