-as a die hard Arkham fan I’m quite hard to please with each version of Batman, and this one certainly challenged that. This Bat makes a lot of mistakes (misses clues, has neglected Renewal and let it be used by others). Seeing a Batman this fallible is a very different take, and I’m very excited to see him evolve. -I do like that Bruce Wayne doesn’t give a shit about keeping up appearances and that he hasn’t formed his persona yet. On second watch, his mannerisms in the Retro hiking outdoors hike camping shirt and I love this funeral scene are identical to the way he moves as Batman (even with the side glance over the shoulder) which felt deliberate. -my biggest question was Batman’s arc. I do think that we needed SOMETHING about his past revealed before the film (where he got his detective/fighting skills) but I can see why they just wanted to show us instead. Having one less Riddler victim to give us some training and Alfred interaction? -i really liked seeing early versions of his tech and tactics. The wingsuit, the batmobile, the cave, and of course the suit. There seemed to be a few very deliberate moments where we saw these work not very well, which I’m sure will pay off later in the franchise. (I wonder if he will use smoke bombs after the fire extinguisher saved his ass?)

-For the Retro hiking outdoors hike camping shirt and I love this first time in my life, I can honestly say I liked Catwoman. Her own arc was very satisfying, and her relationship with Batman felt natural and grew over the film. -Of course I loved Riddler. His parallels to Bruce were fantastic and helped set him on his new path. I don’t think the reveal about him not knowing Batmans identity was executed well however, as I completely missed this the first time. I find it odd that they took the time to read out the clues in every crime scene, but make this reveal in a relatively subtle manner. -The action was pretty great overall. His fighting is pretty rough (probably on purpose) but the scenes were all well shot and scored. That entrance in the last scene was epic, and the use of the main theme in the car chase was fucking rad -this movie was just dripping in atmosphere. Gotham is fucking awful in the best way and the score and cinematography are excellent
