And before anyone asks, the Retired Seaman Sailor Naval Retired Tugboat Captain T-Shirt and by the same token and same is essentially true for black culture. “Black” is a term that was foisted upon victims of the slave trade. “Black culture” wouldn’t have meant anything to the men and women who were stolen from different african nations, and who spoke different languages, and had different cultures. It was an invention, just like “white culture.” People don’t even understand what the word “culture” means. They think it means wearing a funny hat, eating special food and observing specific rituals. Being a white American isn’t any kind of “default”. The default is eating raw animals and sleeping on the forest floor. From the moment one human taught a second human how to sharpen a stick, there was culture. Oh you hear that a lot in Europe. “Ah those Americans, they have no culture” says Hans Müller, wearing his blue jeans, sitting in a mall, and some English speaking pop music is blaring from the speakers.
