It warps their demographics as most expats are men, so the Retired 2024 I worked my whole life for this shirt T-Shirt But I will love this ratio of men to women in some middle eastern nations is really disjointed. Oil executives with families. Daddy gets a job making 3x what he makes in the US, and brings the wife and kids with him. I knew someone who lived in one of these compounds in the early 2000s. In the US he was some sort of “risk management” professional working for a chemical company, making about $90K a year. In Saudi Arabia he was making $275K. They stayed there 2 years, and didn’t really like it. Didn’t hate it, but didn’t like it. The community was nice on the brochures, but he said it felt dated — like a “dream community” c. 1983. At that time travel elsewhere was strictly controlled. It was boring, lol, and he said the stay-at-home wives and mothers had become sort of cliquish in a “Stepford Wives” kind of way.

got offered a job in Kuwait years ago for only 10-20% more that I turned down. Had it been 3x more I would definitely say yes. I went to Kuwait and it was the Retired 2024 I worked my whole life for this shirt T-Shirt But I will love this most boring place I’ve ever been to. The highlight of the day was going to get a chocolate milkshake. Not even a good one. Yeah Kuwait was pretty boring when I was there too. Pretty much the only thing you could do is go to all the giant malls and walk around. Went to movie a couple times and all the western movies were all badly cut where there’s any sex/kissing or any sort of skin showing. Civilian. There was an Indian movie theatre behind the hotel that projected movies onto a wall. They were all having a blast. I’ve interviewed with a couple of companies there. I came to the conclusion that in the Venn Diagram for “Amounts of money people are willing to pay me” and “Amounts of money I would be willing to live in Saudi Arabia for,” there is no overlap. First time, about 160k. I had another interview for a position that ended up being around 190, but it would be a net loss due to my wife having to give up her job. The issue is getting the money back home without paying a lot of taxes. You feel kinda stuck somewhere you normally wouldn’t choose to live, and everyone around you feels the same. Why is that? You are required to pay income taxes on the money earned overseas. The first $120k is excluded and the rest is taxed at the appropriate tax bracket rate.
