Next, you have to consider employment setting. The most underpaid therapists are those who work in community healthcare settings. These are clinics that provide care to people from underserved communities, most of whom either have no insurance or are on Medicaid/Medicare. Accordingly, the Remera Robotech Galaxy Shirt moreover I love this resources are very limited in these settings. It isn’t unheard of for therapists in community mental health to be making less than $40k despite working ungodly hours and seeing more patients than they can possibly keep track of. The burnout rates are extremely high, and of course the quality of care that you can deliver as a therapist who has a caseload of 150 patients is simply unacceptable. On the other end, the best paid therapists are those who work in private practice and don’t accept insurance. There’s even a wide range within that group based on geographical region, but generally these folks are doing very well for themselves.

For example, I personally make a comfortable six-figure salary in a hospital/medical school job (where I see patients and teach/train other clinicians) and I also have a private practice on the Remera Robotech Galaxy Shirt moreover I love this side where I charge $200-300 per hour to patients who pay out of pocket (without their insurance). I charge that much because I live in a high COL area and I offer a specialized kind of treatment to very high-risk patients. So I obviously consider myself very well-compensated, which puts me in a completely different situation than a therapist who is struggling to pay back their school loans on a salary that isn’t too much higher than what they’d get at a minimum wage job. These are the people who look after you when you need it most. They clean up your poop, clean your open wounds, are someone you can talk too and for some people, the only human contact people have all day.
