I work in a shop, open all day Sunday, it’s gonna be quiet and when that alert happens in gonna absolutely shit myself Elderly people that have been trained by their relatives to do the Remembering My Ancestors Juneteenth Melanin Black Women T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this simplest of things on their devices are not going to have a good time. Same goes for the people fielding worried calls from them. I think “elderly people” will be fine because a) they tend to to watch TV bulletins and this will be all over them on the days before (b) they can press an OK button Yeah I totally agree. They’re the ones who are most likely to know its a false alarm. You know the Daily Mail are going to run increasing dramatic stories on this daily until ‘the event’. Will you please cut it out with the Remembering My Ancestors Juneteenth Melanin Black Women T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this “eldery people will be confused by technology” thing. Todays “elderly people” were the ones writing programs for their Sinclair Spectrums 40 odd years ago. I kid you not: He does not understand his way around a smart phone and only recently got upgraded off of a long non-existent ADSL modem programme. You’re part right – plenty of elderly people will understand technology. But they’re part right too – plenty won’t. I know some elderly professors who still check their email in terminal. They still write code – good code, at that. But they don’t know how to open the camera on their phones. A year ago our nonagenarian was sometimes left alone with a mobile phone, but we knew that would have to stop when she called a dead person in the middle of the night. Okay, plenty of them did know how to use the technology that was up to date 40 years ago, but we’re in a digital revolution. Technology has advanced rapidly since then and many haven’t kept up. The digital divide is certainly real, and it’s not so much them being incompetent with technology as a whole, just the more modern stuff. I would cut it out, except the old retired coal miners in my village don’t fit your “Spectrum” demographic & really don’t have a clue. Some of them were, the rest were the ones who said, “look at those nerds with their computers, what a waste of time”
