It’s because most London pizza places don’t cook their sauce down with herbs, sugar etc. Also you can’t get American pepperoni over here like boar’s head – either because there’s no market for it (although I’d buy it) or that the Rare Vintage 1993 Stanley Desantis Beavis and Butt-head Shirt so you should to go to store and get this preservatives / chemicals or something aren’t legal as our food quality laws are generally more strict. Fair it’s not exactly the Rare Vintage 1993 Stanley Desantis Beavis and Butt-head Shirt so you should to go to store and get this same as your average NY pizza place but it’s arguably much closer than most places in London, and hits a similar spot. It’s just too crispy for me, it scrapes the shit out of the roof of your mouth. I prefer a little chew especially in the crust. Most reviews seem to call it New York-style, some say New Haven. Even if we agreed it was New Haven / Connecticut-style, I think you’d be being quite pedantic to say it had “no similarities to NY style whatsover”. I walk past that place several times a week and there are always loads of people ordering pizza! (Looks like thin Italian -style though). Slice in Golders Green. It hits that perfect NY style. You don’t want super fancy mozzarella or too many toppings. Due to it being in Golders Green it adheres to Kosher rules so you can get any meat toppings unfortunately, and they’re closed during the Sabbath, but I recommend. Shitty vibe inside, advise not to eat there, but I can’t fault the pizza Voodoo rays, is good can be hit and miss on the reheat. NY Fold and paradise slice on brick lane were great but think they’ve both closed down. Bad boy pizza in seven dials is a good shout. In general you don’t find the same cheese stretch, most places are using mozzarella from Campania, doesn’t have the same effect as US Mozzarella and they tend to put less on in London. I’d def suggest Detroit Pizza on Commercial street if you want that cheese overload albeit in a thick square slice
