Wow i mean they are using some of the same techiniques to build a concept car that we would use in the industry, just more diy in the best ways. Most concept cars start life as clay models to best capture form because of how maleable the material is. Except these three talents are doing the work a crazy expensive giant 5 axis CNC machine would do. And hey it genuinely looks like a Chiron! That’s how they build car body prototypes. At least that’s how they did it last time I checked. I wonder if they 3D print them now or something more fancy. Glad someone explained the fiberglass part to me. Thought they were driving around a terracotta pot for a minute built their own Bugatti out of fiberglass, resin, and an existing motor, drive train, and chassis, shaped with molds formed from clay

Still impressive, but it’s definitely not as insane as it sounds. Creating prototypes based on hand-sculpted clay molds was basically standard practice in the Ralphie You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out Vintage Sunset T-Shirt in addition I really love this auto industry until CAD/CAM took over in the 90s. And some designers still prefer to use clay. Showed my boyfriend this video because I know absolutely nothing about cars. Said “babe they made a car out of clay!?” He was like. “Noo.. they made a carbon fiber mould out of clay. For a pipe frame. Super cool!” Now I’m enlightened. Damn, lots of people rippin on these dudes in the chat. This was a cool project by a couple kids that learned alot and had fun doing it. Just enjoy it. Don’t be dicks Guess what that’s how Bugatti made the Chiron first they use a clay model to get the shape then they build the real thing so very smart of them.
