Drives up housing prices Drives up tuition further Higher future tax burden Higher inflation Doesn’t actually solve any problems. This is extremely condescending. I support a lot of what AOC stands for, I also support predatory loan forgiveness, but I’m also not an American. That said, I think a lot of people aren’t in the Queens Are Born In July Birthday T-Shirt but in fact I love this camp of ‘I didn’t get a pass so they shouldn’t either’ it’s more a question of ‘do I get anything? What was all that pain and suffering for?’ It’s less of a ‘if I can’t they can’t’ and more of a ‘can I get some help too please?’ On one hand yeah it’d help alot of struggling people but on the other what’s all this extra spending gonna do when it comes to inflation? What about the people who are struggling who didn’t go to college? Idk man.. people who took out these massive loans were young and encouraged to do so by all their elders and basically anyone they looked up too told them they were investing in their futures turned out it was a big lie.. I have so much sympathy for that.

But also people who can’t afford housing aren’t going to look too kindly of their bosses bosses boss six figure loans being forgiven. It’s a complicated issue. Maybe we should fix the Queens Are Born In July Birthday T-Shirt but in fact I love this underlying problem first so we aren’t doing this again in a few years. You also have to consider whether or not this will be a positive net gain or loss when it comes to the voters. This concept is very unpopular at my blue collar job but who knows if they represent the nation as a whole or not Well if that’s the message, how about the people wanting their loans forgiven instead advocate for an educational reform where future generations won’t have to take out such a large loan at all? This whole thing just reeks of entitlement. I paid off my loans and am not necessarily against it, but I don’t see what it solves beyond helping one specific group at one specific time. The younger group is just gonna come in right behind and rack up all that debt all over again.
