I’ve been big on World of Warships lately and I was grinding out a ship called the QT Marshall Born In America Made in Mexico Shirt but in fact I love this Chung Mu for a while. Always always called it “Chungus Mugen” in my head. The USS Pueblo, first launched in 1945, is still commissioned as an active ship in the U.S. Navy. The only older ship is the Revolutionary War-era USS Constitution. The Pueblo is currently moored on the Taedong River in Pyongyang, part of North Korea’s Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum. I don’t think people realize what a great flex this is, and while I didn’t intend for the Asian connection, goes back to what Short round said after winning an Oscar. In America, anyone can be anything. That is our motherfucking biggest global flex. That’s awesome! My Hawaiian-Chinese gf was excited to hear about the name of that ship since she has two uncles in the US Navy who are both high-rank career naval officers (I know one is an E9 Master Chief and the other is similarly-ranked).

It’s good to see the QT Marshall Born In America Made in Mexico Shirt but in fact I love this USN naming ships after important Asian-American and Pacific-Islander figures in naval history. They deserve recognition and representation for the many sacrifices they’ve made for the US despite the way our nation has treated them throughout history. A People’s Liberation Navy ship, picked up considerable speed and cut in front of the bow of the Chung-Hoon, a maneuver HMCS Montreal’s commander, Capt. Paul Mountford, called “not professional.” Reminds me of when famed Canadian MMA fighter George Saint Pierre was being told he had to talk more trash so he called out another fighter by just saying “I’m not impressed by your performance” “I’m very glad you won that fight Matt but I’m not impressed by your performance and look forward to fighting you in the near future”
