I dunno, a lot of my shifts were int he bureau de change (in there the Pussycat Girl Power Saucy Santana Shirt Apart from…,I will love this limit for needing a double count was higher at 500 for double count and £1500 for manager count). Counting cash all day long for weeks on end. 100,000s in cash. Even the best will fuck up like 0.1% of the time. They just want to make sure those fuck ups don’t happen on the high value transactions. Honestly while it’s a little annoying it’s good piece of mind and if there is a fuck up you don’t get the blame. It’s no different to peer review on technical work, why wouldn’t it be a thing? When I worked retail we had to get a second person to count and check any amount of cash over £200. And a floor manager had to be called to check the cash of any amount of Scottish notes Legal tender relates to acceptance of the notes for settling a debt, only notes issued by the bank of England are legal tender. If someone tried to pay a debt with Scottish notes you could refuse.
