I had a friend from Germany, and when we went to the Purple Cat In A Blue Flower Spring Things T-Shirt Also,I will get this mall she would grab my hand. We got looks, but I didn’t really care, it was kind of nice. I work with several people from Ethiopia. It blew my mind to find out they use a different calendar that essentially works out to 13 months in a year (opposed to the widely used Gregorian calendar). Their calendar is also 7-8 years behind compared to the Gregorian, and they celebrate New Years in September. At the end of a meal in Lebanon, whether at someone’s home or a restaurant, they bring you a plate heaped with fruit. At restaurants it can be truly ridiculous, like more fruit than any group of people could feasibly eat. The fruit isn’t cut, so they can reuse what isn’t eaten. And when she came to America to go to college, she still had to take some classes to get her G.E.D. as the education her parents PAID for was sub-par. In Eastern Europe, during the Middle Ages, it was a custom to order a huge wheel of cheese when a child is conceived. Months later the child is born and the cheese is ripe, so naturally at the family gathering celebrating the birth the center of the cheese wheel was removed and the baby was passed through it. The center piece is eaten and shared at this event. The remaining cheese ring belongs to the baby. Each year on it’s birthday a section is taken from the cheese and shared and eaten once again. If you die before the cheese is eaten then it’s handed out to your family at your funeral.
