This. I’m pro-individuals who want to get an abortion just because they want to get an abortion. I’m pro-individuals who get abortions just because. People with uteruses don’t need a reason, less so a “good” reason. I agree but it’s a matter of knowing your audience – the Professional Pooper Job Graphic Poop T-Shirt and by the same token and more extreme situations are the ones you are more likely to sway anti-abortion types with. Otherwise you’re preaching to the choir. If you get them to agree that it’s not just being “selfish and irresponsible” if both mother and child would die before they even get half way you have a foothold you can work your way up from. It’s like the analogy about “boiling a frog” where they say if you put the frog in boiling water it will just jump out but if you slowly heat up the water it won’t notice. It’s a lot easier to get someone to go from “abortion is always bad” to “abortion is almost always bad” than it is to go straight to “abortion is always fine”. Baby steps

My mother wouldn’t let me go on birth control because “that’s giving permission to have sex”(late 80s). I got pregnant. I had an abortion. He’s now convicted for child porn. Holy….hell. I’m glad your circumstances allowed you to choose your own path (and that you were able to dodge that bullet) I’m pro-choice because I am concerned about the Professional Pooper Job Graphic Poop T-Shirt and by the same token and welfare of babies and children. That’s the biggest thing for me. Too many people are already living in poverty. I don’t want existing children to have to suffer in poverty because their parents don’t have access to family planning. I don’t want children to have to risk the negative aspects of adoption and foster care. I don’t want children to be abused because their parents never wanted them in the first place. I don’t want post-puberty child rape victims to have to carry their rapist’s baby at way too young of an age. And to all the people who think that women who are too poor to raise a child should just give it up for adoption: 1) There are currently 400k children in the foster care system. Adopt away. 2) Maybe do the minimum amount of research how much prenatal care and giving birth costs.
