As fashion reckons with its own systemic racism, many organizations have emerged to hold the Premium We Go Together Like Hot Cocoa and Marshmallows Christmas Day T-Shirt it is in the first place but industry accountable and support Black creatives. The Black in Fashion Council and The Kelly Initiative are two of the newest, while Harlem’s Fashion Row, which has existed since 2007, is continuing to work with the Black fashion community through its digital networking events, ICON 360 Fund, and other industry support. Joining these organizations today is RAISE Fashion, a group founded by eight executives that will provide free mentorship to Black designers, founders, and businesspeople within fashion.

RAISE Fashion—an acronym for Respect, Advocate, Inspire, Support, Empower—was founded in the Premium We Go Together Like Hot Cocoa and Marshmallows Christmas Day T-Shirt it is in the first place but wake of global Black Lives Matter protests by Cushnie’s Carly Cushnie, Saks Fifth Avenue’s Roopal Patel, Net-a-Porter’s Elizabeth van der Goltz and Nayla Touma, Jonathan Simkhai’s April Hennig, Chloé’s Alexa Geovanos, and executives Nelli Kim and Felita Harris. The groups will pair some of its 70 mentors from within the industry with applicants, offering guidance in every aspect of the industry, from product creation to retail advice to branding. “The initial concept for RAISE as a mentorship program came from a very humble reflection about what I could personally offer to help make a positive impact in helping BIPOC businesses,” says Geovanos. “The outpouring of positive responses from colleagues across the industry who shared the same passion and enthusiasm for offering this support was motivating. People from across all facets of the industry were experiencing turmoil in their own businesses, but the idea of being able to step away for a moment and objectively look at challenges and opportunities outside their own scope, while making our industry more inclusive, was universally exciting for so many of the advisors.”
