Wankers that got rich here but aren’t from here, moving next to nightclub in Hackney then force the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this council to shut it down are just leeches. Too expensive for many young people to live here, meaning those that come are almost entirely middle class boring cock sleaves that offer nothing and just drive housing cost up further and driving out the London born working class. To feed the money machine, a lot of the property is owned by foreign investment funds in dodgy parts of the world. Also leeches. As a single 20-year-old woman, I studied in London and lived alone and did almost everything by myself, often walking home alone at night. Nobody ever sexually harassed, assaulted, or threatened me.

Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt: A Unique and Creative Design

I never even worried about it. I realize now, over ten years later, that I was incredibly naive to not be more cautious or aware of my surroundings, but I’m amazed by how safe I felt during that time. Many Victorian houses in London are borderline unfit for habitation and should be knocked down and replaced by 4-storey blocks of flats. There’s also lots of pointless car parks that need to go. Lots of older buildings in zone 3 and 4 high streets should be demolished and replaced with mixed use blocks. These places are home to dodgy ‘churches’ and the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this like so there’s nothing of value lost. Rapid migration is the main factor eroding manners and etiquette on the tube. The amount of people trying to push on before people have gotten off is crazy. London is a sleepy unexciting collection of villages compared with other cities places of similar stature – New York, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo.
How are you defining “exciting” ? If you’re talking about nightlife, then yes, of course cities like HK and NY are more concentrated so have a busier feel at night. It’s not as exciting for nightlife. Yeah night life but also the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this general lack of spontaneity, convenience and the ‘buzz’ – things close early; city is spread out; you always have to book months in advance for any nice restaurant; traffic is particularly bad from one part of London to another – crawling at 5mph in centuries old roads; people trying to catch the last train home; shops closing at 5pm or even 4 on Sundays… things are simply too spread out for you to feel like you’re living in a city thank you! I just want to read a book with a coffee at 9pm but the places open are sports bars. everything closes so early that it feels like a ghost town after 6pm. When people think of money laundering, criminal kingpins, and a captured economy that serves an oligarchy while taking advantage of the poor, a lot of times they think of 3rd world countries like Mexico.

About this Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt

But if you learn how the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this City works, and you read about the Libor scandal, and you see who can afford £150M homes in London, you realize that London is the actual capital of crime. I honestly think we should revert to the 1965 boundaries or give greater London ‘proper’ London postcodes. If you live in greater London the identity crisis is real. I work just around the corner and I kept waiting for them to finish the top. I was outraged when I realised that was it I wanted to downvote you because I was so outraged. Then I remembered this is an unpopular opinions thread. Then I saw someone else had downvoted you so I upvoted you. But I could not disagree more! Living in it is really not that great and other parts of the country are just as good or better. Cheaper, quieter, less air, noise and light pollution, just an all round better quality of life than living in London. None of have to be here. We can leave. But we tolerate the high prices, social altruism and toxic air because we want to feel important. The high cost of living in London is basically a tax on ambition London is being rapidly replaced by way too many people who don’t have any ties to the city, and who therefore don’t care to contribute to the city’s culture. The people born and raised in London are taking the city’s essence with them when they move out. The city has become unbalanced. Londoners think being “antisocial Londoner” is their personality type – when actually making eye contact and talking to strangers can be really nice. I have lived here for 5 years, and had never made any friends. BUT I got a dog 6 months ago and have made more friends and talked to more people than I had in the past 5 years, and (Londoners hate this) actually talking to people and being friendly has done wonders for my mental health and comfort living here. But no, carry on with “don’t make eye contact” being your entire personality.
There’s no heart to London, literally and figuratively. Well, it is a collection of villages. But European cities usually have a heart. London just doesn’t. It may have a buzz but no heart 🙁 This is going to get downvoted to hell, but as an unpopular opinion… London is a relatively cheap city to live in. In comparison to other ‘capital’ cities ie Sydney, NYC, Geneva etc, it’s comparatively cheap. People can be unnecessarily cold. Having lived here for several years I still smile at strangers and try and add some warmth That chicken shop chicken actually isn’t nice and most of it is really hygienic. Also way overpriced now , at least it used to be worth it when it was really cheap. It’s disgracefully overpopulated. Can’t just walk into places anymore and get a table or be seated within a reasonable time. London is just rammed with people nowadays It is not very green. I’m not talking about dedicated green spaces, e.g. parks. It is rare to see trees along the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this streets, especially in the centre. Parks are so much better than trees overall. I lived in Shanghai which had trees on every street and it looked great but having the option to chill in a green area was so much better than trees on a high street. They are not mutually exclusive. Having both would be better. Areas like parts of Ealing or Richmond are delightful because they have both.
I think when someone says “I’m going to London”, I don’t really consider places like Ilford or Hounslow as where they’d be visiting. I never really considered Greater London as London. I live in Harrow myself. Same here. Zone 4 to the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this east. I work from home 50%ish of the time and the conversation with colleagues, friends, and family on my whereabouts for any given working day goes “Are you in London on that day?” despite living inside the M25 and in a London borough.vThe stabby people help keep the rifraff out. The food scene is the most diverse of anywhere I’ve lived, but as London slowly gentrifies its “central” areas, restaurants get further and further apart as restaurant owners and staff are pushed out. All that survives is the chains. Hence why I’d say Leeds or Manchester have a more enjoyable food scene now purely because of accessibility. It’s vastly underdeveloped and more towers out of scale with the area should be built by private developers selling them at market rate.
Cons: expensive, dirty, overcrowded, loud and hot as f***, small carts on most lines, small platforms and accessibility issues on many stations Yes, I know it was the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this first metro ever. That’s exactly what makes it so ridiculously bad compared to more modern ones. And I know that some lines are less bad (like district or circle) but they’re still far from amazing and if you remove all the bad lines then you lose the only pro, which is network extensivness. That London is truly the greatest city in the world and has not lost that moniker over the last years and decades. It’s still great just like it was in the past. As good as a Londoner thinks a particular restaurant is, it’s still probably shit and overpriced as Londoners grow up eating terribly, eg Greggs to instagram restaurants, to truffles on everything = good food? The irony of this being that as a gay man, 90% of the sexual assaults I have endured in gay venues in London have been committed by drunk straight women. Way too many economically unproductive and problematic people living in social housing in some of London’s best areas (zones 1 and 2). It’s very unfair when young professionals are struggling to even rent in zone 4, let alone buy a property. It’s a privilege to be living in Notting Hill or Kensington, and hard working families (professional or not) that can’t afford anything should be living in these homes, not unemployed people that barely contribute and often weren’t born in the UK. You’re only a Londoner if you’re born and bred in London. Too many middle class foreigners or Monties and Lotties from the Home Counties claiming to be Londoners when they have lived here for 2 years.
Living in London without a car is pretty shit. With all the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this train strikes it’s easy to feel trapped when making plans outside the city, particularly in rural areas. It’s dirtier than Paris, at least in the last few years. Overflowing bins with bin bags stacked next to them, litter lining gutters, half eaten takeaways or vomit on the pavement. Also a weird amount of half empty bottles or cans just stacked against the side of buildings. Usually cans of lager in hackney, but I did genuinely see an abandoned bottle of bolly outside a mechanic in Fulham a couple of weeks ago. this is a very specific thing but is it a controversial take to say that kingston town centre – which is typically regarded as one of the “safe” and “posh” and “middle class” parts of london – is honestly pretty unpleasant to be in at times idk if id say i feel unsafe there, exactly, but as the “big” and trendy” shopping area in outer SW london it tends to attract loads of teens from the home counties who behave absolutely abhorrently (harassing random strangers by throwing pebbles at them, causing chaos in random shops, sexually harassing women, generally just….. acting like twats, etc). it intensifies at weekends due to pryzm. also eden street always feels sketchy af in the evening
Transport doesn’t work, people are lazy and keep striking, Criminals and mugging everywhere, Goopy gravy-laden food sucks, The smell of urine is everywhere. Tagging and graffiti on public transport is a brilliant way to add colour to the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this otherwise drab world of London, haters are just closet-tories But tags affiliated with pathetic murderers marking an area as theirs akin to a pre neutered hound pissing everywhere has no place in society. Despite its issues it’s still the best city in the world and the culmination of all the best aspects of British culture and society. Private members clubs are where some of the best professional connections are made in London, if you are part of one you can accelerate or switch your career with FAR more ease than otherwise just by conversing and unwinding there a few days a week. Inevitably an opportunity will arise. Not sure if it’s unpopular but London nightlife just isn’t that great. I thought it was when I was when I was 18 but after seeing it in other places such as Seoul I find it quite boring now? Maybe a personal problem though. They’re not more entitled than anyone else but they certainly act like it. They’re not big deals when it’s the largest populated city in England No one should be allowed to have a garden larger than two parking spaces if you ask me. London doesn’t have a particularly high urban density and it’s partially because of this.
There’s nothing like a walk down bustling Oxford street at lunch time with the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this tourists to clear your mind, invigorate oneself and get you pumped for an afternoon back at the office. East London is actually a really cool part of London. They have some great food spots and they have all the artsy markets in Whitechapel. How is there not enough diversity? Considering the UK as a whole has only 19% non white ethnicities, London is one of the most ethnically diverse cities made up of non white ethnicities totalling 47%. It holds too much significance. The UK is too london-centric. We should spread our infrastructure and economy out more like the US. I say this as a Londoner myself That it’s actually an amazing (if expensive) place to live. I’ve lived all around the UK and have always gravitated back to London and eventually chose to raise my children here (on the outskirts so they get a taste of both sides of life) I’ve found Londoners to considerably more friendly and, more importantly, kinder than a good few other places I’ve lived. Whilst I do understand the stereotypes of Londoners being unfriendly in The City, I also understand where it comes from and disagree with it. People get awful mad when I say it, though. My family is from Liverpool, so that was “home” for the first 2 decades of my life even though I was a pads brat. Born in Aldershot and lived all over the place. Just to give you a yardstick that I really have lived all over the place. Not just gone from Tooting to Greenwich. Lol. That I don’t know every single one of my neighbours, and to my exhaustion they seem to know me. It’s properly West Enders around here. Conversely though, they have my back & I wouldn’t change it for the world. Although come October, I might have to. Fuck private landlords .
The creation of the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this post of Mayor has done more harm than good. We would be better off with a London-wide local authority with real power, like the old LCC (London County Council), which genuinely improved the living conditions and quality of life of the working class. Or, indeed, the GLC (Greater London Council) that replaced the LCC in 1965 and was abolished by Mrs Thatcher in 1986. I don’t think London exists. Whenever I go there to visit friends you go on a train then on another train underground, pop up in some sort of small town bit with a sort of small town high street and go to a pub. Then you call up another friend and they’re like oh you have to get this train that train this bus, it takes you exactly as long as it takes to go between cities everywhere else and then you’re in some small town bit with a high street, and you go to a pub. It’s just a bunch of confederated towns, not even close together.
I agree with everything you said. It’s going to get worse because I teach primary and they are coming in lower and unable to focus. Many do not listen to teachers and need constant redirection. I’m so exhausted with their need for constant stimulation due to their screen time. Their need for dopamine is greater, so everything is more pronounced. Parents are very forgiving and don’t want to face reality. This is what I have observed happening. I’ve been teaching over 20 years It depresses me to even talk about how far behind my students are. I teach social studies and there is such an utter lack of knowledge for just basic things. A lot of them don’t know the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this difference between a city, state, or country or the cardinal directions. I just don’t understand what is going on at the lower levels where they have no basic skills or knowledge.
Yesterday we were learning about Andrew Jackson and the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this 1824 election and how the House had to decide the winner. Today we were learning about the 1828 election and the first question was who were the candidates. I had kids shouting out things like the House of Representatives! Or the electoral! Or inflation! I’m like people, read the question, you’re just shouting out things you learned before. I am a student teacher (2020 high school grad) and it has really shaken me to my core about how insanely behind the kids are now. Now, my professors and mentors have reminded me that I am teaching a mix of special ed and on-level classes while I took almost exclusively honors/AP/college classes when I was the same age as my students. However, I took a handful of “on level” elective courses, and it never seemed this bad. I have students in “on-level” that cannot read or even spell. They will misspell words that are in the question they are answering. Either they cannot or they refuse to use the words in the question to spell. Furthermore, I have juniors that are submitting assignments telling me Pearl Harbor happened in Japan and then labelling the attack in China. Ever since starting college for education, I (and my cohort) have been nervous about like what is like “on the other side” since our school experience was “pre-covid” minus the last couple of months of our senior years. I think you are spot on about the gap between honors and on-level widening.
Sometimes when I grade papers, I just get extremely sad that this is the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this future of our country. My post-grad teacher friends do tell me that their schools are better and that it isn’t awful (my experience is in a Title 1). Their schools also have a no phone policy that is enforced. My admin don’t seem to care much for consequences for behavior unless a student is injured or school property is damaged. It’s almost like we’ve got a society that’s working parents to the bone just to survive. By the time parents get home with their kids it’s time for a meal and a shower then off to bed. When the fuck are parents even supposed to get involved these days, cause I’m just starting out and it scares me. I get like 2-3 hours a night max with my kids that I gotta get dinner, a bath and cleaning done. We read a book or 2 every night, but damn there’s no time. Fuck these jobs, I just wanna be with my kids.
Oh! The example thing! Yes! I teach math and give them guided notes that explain each step and then work several examples. When they get to the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this problems, they can not follow the examples and work the problems. I kid you not, I have had 8th graders say but the numbers are different! I just can’t believe how helpless they are. Coming from a K-6 perspective, there’s lots to be said about the parent side of things and people more qualified than me have spoken on the lack of support from the home. But I want to add in that I don’t think the curriculum we’re forced to teach through state standards is developmentally appropriate and it’s causing students to be severely lacking in foundational skills. Phonics & fluency have taken a severe step back in favor of comprehension and to a smaller degree, vocabulary. Play-based learning has been taken out of Kindergarten, and honestly? I think that has really hurt students’ ability to solve problems critically. Recess is really short, writing and science is damn near cut from every grade until they get to fourth (since they don’t get tested on those subjects til the fourth).
Tiktok, more specifically the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this “reel” or short video endless scroll format, is the absolute worst single invention in the past 10 years. As for the illiteracy, it’s because schools literally stopped teaching kids how to read. They taught them to memorize words, and look at pictures to figure out what a word is. No phonics, no sounding out. And this went on for decades! Sight words…it’s just what it sounds like, knowing a word on sight and that is NOT reading. Sold a Story is an excellent podcast that discusses how we got to a place where we don’t teach kids to read and what should be done now that they’re illiterate. Also, activist and maker of the documentary “right to read” Kareem Weaver has robust information on his website. We were lining up for a fire drill the other day and I told the kids to walk all the way to the fence, a fourth grader turns around and asks “what’s a fence?”
Guys, if you have a home visiting program through your school district for ages birth-5, please recommend it to the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this parents of your students. I work for this type of program and we go through a lot of the things you guys are mentioning, including social-emotional development. Getting parents on board with learning early, teaching them how to help their child learn, and how to communicate with teachers is the only way we can combat this. If you’re not sure your district has this program ask around. Well No Child Left Behind can take some of the blame. Sure, not having posy puberty (high school aged) kids with pre puberty kids in middle school is not a good idea. It still does a lot of harm. For instance, I hear that the last time I passed math was 6th grade, and they are proud of it.
As someone who is going into teaching for history this makes me sad. How can our country be so inept in such a vital field for future success. I teach 7-12 Learning Support so I know and expect they’re grade levels behind but I have 7th graders who can’t read KDG sight words. I’m teaching beginning phonics and I struggle to find the Poster Tennessee Volunteers Dylan Sampson Hitting OUr Stride 4 TDS, 257 Pass Yards, 178 Rush Yards shirt and I will buy this time. Least no one is bitching about my test scores. This is my 18th year in the 7-12 American grades. They definitely have less ability than they used to. Almost none of them capitalize or punctuate correctly. As OP said, their computer skills and research stamina are low to non-existent. I think back the work involved with a card catalogue or microfiche and these kids won’t scroll to the third or fourth Google result.
