Although we weren’t in the Post Nut Clarity Classic T-Shirt moreover I love this same photo, my wife and I were both in the same place in New Orleans 8 years before we met. We knew this because of a major event that happened that day. Back in 1996, a freighter hit the Riverfront Mall in New Orleans. We were both 13 years old when this happened. I was with my parents, we had just left that mall no more than an hour before the ship hit it. My (eventual) wife was with her high school band members, also at the mall earlier, and had since walked over to the Hard Rock Café where my family and I happened to be eating at. Based on the time of the events, we had to have both been eating at the restaurant at the same time on the same day. We both vividly remember being glued to the news playing in the restaurant about the accident that had just taken place at the mall we had both been in just hours earlier. It wouldn’t have been that crazy if it weren’t for the fact that she was on a band trip from her then hometown of West Monroe, LA and I was on a road-trip with my fam, passing through New Orleans before heading back home to Orlando, FL…where we would eventually meet 8 years later in 2004.

The German club at her high school, 250mi from my high school, served my soccer team sausages after we visited for a match. A mutual friend introduced us in Scottsdale 7 years later. After 30min of chatting w her, I TOLD her I was taking her out to dinner afterwards. Seventeen years later, I am blessed with our family together, and love my playmate poet more and more every day.
