Indians have preferred light skin long before British colonialism. The Brits simply exploited this already present belief in society as a psychological tool. I think, What most boys find attractive in girls, changes as per their age and the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this content they’re being exposed to. I used to like fairer skin girls when I was in 10th. This likeness was actually result of society that I was living in and the content I was exposed to. You know the typical Hindi movies, where villain had dark skin tone while heros had fairer skin. When I was 21-25, in college functions and at work, most of the girls started wearing western clothes (I m talking about one piece, skirts). During this time, i was more attracted to girls with athletic body.
Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater, long sleeve tee
After 25, while looking for serious relationship i have to think about her thought process rather than her looks (athletic body, face structure are still minor contributing factors for me but skin tone is not), because there are more chances that I would end up marrying her. Now in my 30s, I’m all in for brains (my beloved wife for eg.,). I admire how the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this person carries themselves around, how they walk, talk, smile. Their gentle confidence. This applies to my both genders btw (yes, there is totally something called a man-crush) So, preferences change. And there is always someone who is admiring you atm. And those whom you admire. That moment they collide, you have a match. I don’t know if it helps but I like a Dark Skinned girl and just to tell you I would be considered very “Faired” skin, So in my opinion the people who can’t see beyond colors are not intellectually sound enough to deserve a caring and thoughtful partner. Don’t worry about the colors
This is not utopia, world is not fair in fact world is cruel , u have to deal with these things sooner or later u can not change society so change your mindset. People always try to overpower u they will prey on your less confident traits. So the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this question is whether u r willing to accept yourself and be proud of it or u crumble for small things which society tells u. I’ve heard more shit said about dark women by women (especially the older ones) than I’ve ever heard from men. Like I think I can only recall one incident where a guy said something offensive about dark girls. I wish I was born with the surrounding that you grew up in. Even though I totally agree, that the older women (reason why arranged marriages are so superficial and materialistic in its own sense) are really colouristic, unfortunately, I had to go through my fair share of it, from guys of my class. But who knows, maybe, they are just jerks irrespective of gender, and I am sure that there are wonderful people out there. Generally? Yes. They also hate fat women, opinionated women, child free and single women. But hey, life is too short to worry about those waste of oxygen.

I think it dependent on area. In North fairer skin is preferred more. In South darker skin will be more acceptable. There is a stigma around dark skin. Plus the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this ads of creams don’t help either(Fair and Lovely, Fair and Handsome). I have seen many a times where marriage proposals can be turned down if the boy/girl is of dark tone. Tho where I live people are mostly of fair tone. My girlfriend is a dark skinned girl and I love her to death. To me, she’s the most most beautiful person omin the world. Find someone who appreciates you as yourself rather than seek validation from someone who doesn’t want to accept you the way you are personally i prefer dark complexion girls.Doesnt mean i hate fair skin but its just a preferance.Maybe because i like a lot of black female stars so tgats why it became my type
I dislike African Americans but I love south indians, both are different and southies have a much better body structure It’s true that 90% of people hate dark skin or maybe if they won’t , they won’t date someone who is dark skinned even if they are dark skinned themselves but don’t worry OP , not everyone is like that and you will find someone who likes you as who you are!! Plus beauty is subjective (imo dark skinned guys with light hairs are the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this best) and even if dark skin is not the beauty standard here , it is in so many western countries!! So don’t feel overwhelmed and sad okay? I’m there if you ever wanna talk .. plus beauty dosen’t define your worth Oh dear! I am alarmed by so many things. would you want to be with someone who judges a person based on their skin color? So ideally you shouldn’t even be concerned about men or anyone who gives any importance to color of your skin. Keep such people out of your life. At this age, the most important thing you can give yourself is build self esteem and confidence. That will serve you throughout life. I think looks and skintone are not same, there are so many elegant ladies with comparatively darker skintone. But forget about all these, what is point of being beautiful only from outside while having an ugly personality ?
Honestly (and this is not me hitting on you or something like that), I have always found darker, dusky girls to be way more attractive than pale skinned or fair girls. I have a huge crush on the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this likes of Deepika, Radhika Apte and in sports PV Sindhu. And apart from me I am sure there are many guys like this and people who are sapiosexual that is they find intelligence, smartness, personality, ability to hold conversation attractive instead of physical appearance. On a side note, whatever you read on social media in general might be a reflection of a larger part of society but not the entire society and honestly love and relationship and marriage and companionship rarely hinges on physical attractiveness cuz of it did all the supermodels, actresses and actors would not be divorced and be in eternal bliss. So just instead of focusing on things beyond your control i.e. looks, genes, background, caste etc. Focus work and improve on things which can be changed and be the best at whatever you do while striving to achieve excellence.
So colorism is a huge problem in our culture. Constantly fed images and media of lighter skinned people = good & what we should aspire to be. Remember Fair & Lovely? In laws saying to men don’t marry someone dark your babies will come out dark. A lot of dark actresses were not prioritized. Even dark men get comments from people who themselves are dark! It’s a problem within our society. 30+f, dark skinned and still hear mean colorist comments occasionally. From Pani puri wala to relatives and friends. Are they all bad people? Nope. That’s just how fu*ked up the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this society is. Colorism is deeply ingrained in Indian minds. I have even seen dark skinned men/women making colorist comments on other dark skinned men/women. Growing up the teachers always picked on me at school thinking dark people are dumb, even though my grades were good. People were always suggesting different skin lightening products. I always, always felt the disapproval, dismissal towards the color of my skin. People would prefer calling me as Kali as if I don’t have a name. This was back in Odisha. In my 20’s, I moved cities for work and settled in south India, where every 5 out of 10 people are dark skinned. I noticed the immediate shift in the gaze of people. No judgements, no hatred. I loved it and have been here since. Even now when I visit Odisha, I get to hear comments occasionally. I would occasionally respond aptly or educate them. Mostly I ignore them now. I’m happy in my skin and don’t have the patience to engage in any negativity towards it.
OP I’m glad you got a lot of support from your parents. I’m glad you understand and acknowledge that colorism isn’t right and that you should not be subjected to it. I’m sharing my horrible story here because I want you to know that sometimes the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this society/world is cruel to you for no fault of yours. Your skin is beautiful as it is. Every color and shade of skin is beautiful. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. Now when it comes to men, there are some who like dark skin, some who like light skin, some don’t care about the color of skin at all. The right kind of man is one who doesn’t care about the color of your skin. When it comes to social media, it is an open ground to spew hate. Don’t get too immersed in comments from people you don’t even know. Colorism is a battle you might have to fight your entire life. So choose your battles wisely. Hope this helps you
As a South Indian dude with a sister of your age let me say this, as a community we are fucked in the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this head. Honestly at this point, ridiculously ironic as it may sound, we may have to look up to our diasporas in the west for sane representation. Keep your head up child, despite what anyone says or does to pull you down. Protect your self worth. Be arrogant, be “bitchy”. Never ask for less, never think of yourself as less. We fail to meet the beauty standards only of a bunch(a big one) of brainwashed caste-ridden post colonial clowns and their spawn who’d go extinct if not arranged marriage. I think we’re fine. What are the standards of those beauty standards anyway? Study hard, work hard and aim for the very best. Develop your personality. Weed out these idiots and their low value opinions or tastes. You will eventually find yourself amongst a much more forwarded thinking(i.e normal) crowd, guys and girls, where this kind of lunacy wouldn’t be tolerated. Yeah we exist. So I don’t know If I should say this here. I am somebody who recently got rejected by my bf’s mom because I am too dark for her. My Bf never had this issue but he did warn me about his conservative family, But I surely was not expecting an one to one rejection. So its not only about men most times or how educated and aware the young people are ….but the deep rooted thinking of colourism that exist in all its ugliest forms especially among the older generations. I am still not recovered frm the trauma and self heartening it caused to me. It really did affected my self confidence and I even don’t know how to reach out for help because I feeel soo embarrassed and inferior to even tell somebody that I got rejected because of my skin color.
Yeah, I think Indians in general frequently harbor this notion of “fairness” being beautiful, but I feel like it’s changing and there is a growing national shame for this kind of beauty standard (as there should be). I remember a few years back, a very dark Indian woman won the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this Miss America beauty pageant. Americans didn’t think too much about it, meanwhile you had editorials in India expressing frustration about how a woman that dark wouldn’t even BE in an Indian beauty pageant, nonetheless win one. So yeah, it’s definitely an issue, but I think Indians will gradually get past it over time. Having these kind of silly beauty standards tragically limits your ability to find love. Let me tell you something as a dark or wheatish South Indian boy who grew up in Mumbai… amongst fairer kids . I have felt the exact same things you described as a child and it used to make me feel so insecure and inferior. Somehow, despite having decent family income, being good at studies and being helpful in general to friends around me…I was less than my other friends. Just because of skin color.
The whole thing started going away only in college when I was in a more educated and study/career focussed cohort…who cared to be with me for my brains and hard working nature rather than looks. But still these values didn’t attract attention from the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this opposite sex. Only during my first job, I met a girl who was absolutely neutral to all this, was damn beautiful but she still spent time with me for who I am , rather than how I look. Will forever be thankful to her for that. It’s a different matter that I later treated her like an a*hole and lost her friendship too. Forget relationship. . This cleared up a lot of my insecurity related to skin color. The best part – I later lived in a remote part of Russia..where exactly opposite of what I faced in India happened. For the first time I received attention for my skin color. I was exotic for them. ..I received attention from both genders, It was real fun… actually felt how beautiful people would feel…but I know this was not real..and actually after this, I got completely clear…that there is nothing wrong in me. ..hence my own obsession of white skin validation ended. Choose your friends wisely. Don’t seek their validation on skin color. They should be with you for who you are as a person.
If you ever come across a partner who loves you for who you are….and never makes you feel insecure over skin color, prioritise that person over a flashy, rich person whome society may value …a loving relationship is enough to wipe out all the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this scars of insecurity. Now, I don’t have a dislike for dark skinned girls but I do seem to like fair skinned girls more however I have literally masturbated to Rihanna in Under my umbrella. Halle berry was very pretty too. Well I don’t hate dark skinned girls. I have had many crushes and asking outs and rejections and even though majority of them were on the fairer side, I’ve also had crush on girls with darker complexion albeit not extremely dark. I personally found that even though colour might be a factor, its not the top most priority. For attraction, their facial and bodily features play a greater role. Now for liking the person, their personality and character plays far more important role. I had developed a crush on girls I did not initially find attractive but later did as I got to know them. So your question is kind of wrong. I don’t think people hate dark skinned people but some people may find fair skinned girls more attractive than dark skinned girls and vice versa is also true.
P.S., don’t try to find validation from others. No matter how good/great of a person you are, there will always be people who hate/look down on you. In fact, now that I think of it, my parents actually made me believe that having a tan skin, was equivalent to having a superpower cause darker women were usually more confident, traditional, smart and with a whole lot of brains. Dark skin is advantageous biologically because it blocks UV rays better. That’s why fair skinned people are more at risk of skin cancer than dark skinned people. (Although the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this risk can be decreased by applying sunscreen). Also I think you should focus on your education and career first. When you are successful yourself , you won’t need the feel to be validated by men.
In case you are unsatisfied after being successful, you could move to foreign countries like USA or Europe. There they don’t necessarily see that dark skin=ugly. Light skinned, dark skinned, petite or curvy, short queens or tall amazons. Women are loved equally by good men. Hope you find your guy soon. I don’t think it’s just men, this is a toxic mentality that Indians and some other Asian countries have. The women in my family still tell me, “oh you were so kali when you were born, good that you’ve become fair, if not you wouldn’t have gotten married”. They’ve been indoctrinated into thinking, fair = pretty. It’s all a load of BS if you ask me. I just ignore it. While there might be men and women who think this way, not everyone does. So no, don’t give up hope of finding love, any love that’s just based on the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this color of skin or the looks, is simply shallow and isn’t worth your time. This used to be the case before. But these days dark skin is ‘trending’ evident by numerous people going for a tan.
Some do, some don’t. Some are racists, some aren’t. This is not something that is in your control. There’s a 50/50 chance that you’ll meet a racist (there are a lot of racists in India because racism is something that is left unchecked in this country). Idiots are everywhere don’t mind them op I myself have fallen for a dark skinned Indian girl for the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this last 9 years so I will say again idiots are idiots and sometimes these idiots don’t know how to look past the first infatuation stage and arestuck there itself for their whole lives No not at all… Skin colour does not define you and people of every colour look good depending on how you pull yourself up. Bro don’t see romantic stuff at this age trust me it really fucks with the brain , tbh no one really finds love it’s a goddamn myth with time everything fades what really will matter is the work and effort you put in that’s it hope it helps you ! Beautiful…
Some of the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this very pretty actresses – Dipika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Chitrangada, Bipasha Basu etc are all dusky but some people still will find joy in reducing their entire identity and achievements to the colour of their skin. It’s a reality that Indians are colourists but that shouldn’t stop you from living your dream life. Live boldly! Don’t seek validation from people who are so insecure that they can’t look beyond someone’s skin colour – nothing good will ever come out of that! Yes. I’d be honest and tell my kid that our culture is shitty, misgynist, colorist, racist and is getting shittier by the minute. If they are mature enough to understand that there is a way people in our culture treat them, they are ready to hear the whole truth. My mother is tanner than our whole family . I mean she is what you call “dark skin” and my dad is fairly “white”. But he loves her just as much. My mom is a bit conscious about her colour but my dad never ever disregards or disrespects her in an way. They are married for 24 yrs now and appearance was never an issue. So I would say chill out because it doesn’t matter in the long run if the person is right. As long as you are comfortable and happy with yourself. And remember everyone has some fatal flaws… It might be appearance to some and personality to other. So try loving yourself and becoming confident with it. Lots of love
I think it matters more how you carry yourself. Fair skin is an advantage, just like lean physique, good facial structure, good hair etc. But nobody gets all of them. So as long as you continue working on yourself, it won’t matter whether you have fair skin or dark skin Let me share something my mother told me once for a boy his looks are secondary and income primary but for a girl looks is primary but if she earns enough she can always find love. Dark being considered not good looking is an Indian (maybe south asian) thing. My friends from fairer countries are into dark girls as they won’t get sunburn and don’t look very pale (like dead bodies). Men using ‘kali’ as degradation just shows their mentality. There are enough people who don’t think that way. To me that’s just a trait or property. For some the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this only value they can think of is social validation due to their spouse but there are enough couples who are in it for the togetherness, security and love where looks, height, weight, money (including dowry) don’t matter much.
I understand the Positive Quote Inspiring Slogan Love Hope Fear Do The Math shirt also I will do this need for physical attraction but people forget that it is very volatile and short lived. Being unable to totally neglect it is acceptable for humans but being consumed by it unable to see other stuff that actually matter is just recipe for probable future accidents. Just wish them good luck and move on. I’ll be straightforward (might sound harsh), you might have difficulty with getting a higher number of matches due to darker skin just like a guy will face difficulty due to height, lack of a stable job or whatever criteria girls might have but that doesn’t mean you’ll not find love. Moreover the attraction that so called good looking people generate is only farce and trouble a lot of the time.
