I used to think this, until my wife bought an avocado from a roadside stall in South Africa. It was incredible. It’s a texture thing. I like ketchup and tomato based sauces, so long as they’ve not got lumpy bits in. Fish – it’s ‘squeaky’. It tastes to me like the sound of felt-tip pens (which goes through me, and tastes strongly fishy). I obviously have some sensory issues, but also a degree of synaesthesiac mix-up between sound/taste and vice versa Love raw tomatoes. I’m probably Britain’s biggest consumer of tomatoes as person. However smell of ketchup makes me gag. Would not touch the bottle as it disgusts me. Like 15 years ago I saw disgusting dried up ketchup on the lid of the bottle and I still remember it vividly. It haunts me. Fully agree on tomatoes. The smell, the way they burst when people cut into them, the weird slimy seeds… bleugh. I will happily eat any tomato based sauce though.

Coleslaw and cucumber can do one aswell. im with you on raw tomatoes. I LOVE tomatoes in almost every form; cooked, ketchup, sauce, soup etc. but a slice of tomato in a sandwich or salad? GET OUT! its defo a texture thing… and a metallic weird taste. tomato juice is the worst… I want to like a bloody mary, but that tomato juice vibe is a hard no Same with the tomatoes. Everyone I know thinks I’m weird. Also mushrooms. I’ll eat them raw in a salad but can not stand the texture taste or smell of them cooked. People also think I’m weird for this. When I try and explain the texture thing it makes the weirdness worse according to everyone else I’m exactly the same about tomatoes. I can’t imagine anything worse than biting into a whole cherry tomato because of those textures
