The depth in such a tiny baby’s eyes is heart breaking. No one that small should look like they’ve lived through some shit. Memories, maybe not, but this will leave a lasting imprint on their psyche. God, imagine (assuming she was conscious) what those 54 days were like for her. Terrible. My colleague told me about his older brother that was in a crib when his house got bombed in The Blitz. He survived but was found under rubble and stuff. That guy had a lifelong fear of the dark and probably other psychological issues. Yup. Let’s just say i feel very very unhappy about this little tikes experience and the Phoenix Suns Script sport Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this effects that will echo into the future. ? Foster parent here – even ones that come to their forever home straight from the hospital are still considered traumatized and carry it with them in unexpected ways Wait is that why my feet need to be covered to sleep? I spent a while in the NICU too, is that a universal thing or was it something specific? Babies get blood for blood work taken from their heels. Very common for NICU babies, as adults, to dislike having exposed feet. Especially during sleep. I feel like you’ve just cracked my son’s code. He was in NICU for RDS at 36 weeks, and he outright refuses to sleep, even going as far as waking himself up again if he’s put down in his cot and his feet are bare or uncovered. It took me ages to figure out this was what was bothering him, and I still didn’t make any link between it and NICU until I read your comment today, I thought he was just peculiar ? This made me cry. My twins were born very early and were in the nicu for a long time. It makes me sad that the trauma will follow them into adulthood. Wow….now I know. I always assumed it was just something weird about my feet that I was so aware of them when I’m sleeping. Hmm. I wasn’t an NICU baby, but I hate having my feet covered when I sleep. I wonder what happened to me as a baby to make me like that.
