ETA: if it’s true that the Philadelphia Eagles NFL 2024 Season Schedule Home Decor shirt in addition I really love this hospital also cleared this child, then that should be investigated as well. Every single player in this event needs to be examined. This series of events is also the one that the school released. It’s unclear if they were telling the whole truth. This reminds me of my cousins husband’s Father. Basically his on-site work doctor cleared him for work after hitting his head, except the dr was not qualified to be looking at brains and didn’t realize that his patient had a brain bleed. He had a seizure a week later, went to a different doctor for a second opinion, found out his brain was still fucked up, and he ended up suing his workplace’s dr and got a nice settlement. As a school nurse, I assess every injury that occurs in school and “clear” them to either return to class or be picked up. Sometimes kids have injuries that are not serious enough for EMS but should still be followed up by a doctor. I notify all parents of any head injury in school, any assessment findings, and signs of TBI to monitor for at home. It’s absolutely within scope for me to perform assessments and monitoring for concussion. Not all head injuries require follow up. However, I will always cover myself and tell parents to seek followup if symptoms persist or worsen (or will give them a list of symptoms that require emergency care). I don’t think we have enough info from the nurse to know that they are part of this chain of events.

Absolutely agree it’s within a nursing scope to perform assessments. It just seems wild to me that if a kid died the Philadelphia Eagles NFL 2024 Season Schedule Home Decor shirt in addition I really love this next day, how did they look and present for anyone but an MD to “clear” them. Granted, I come from a psych background but was trained on medical clearances through my time working in an ER. Maybe my threshold to CYA is different I’d be very interested in how the student presented when assessed by the nurse as well, especially since it seems like emergency care didn’t detect anything either. I’d be very interested to see what happened and what was missed from a medical perspective. You sound much better than the school nurses I had to put up with in school! Seriously, sounds like you care about the kids and want them to be okay, which unfortunately has not been my experience, oof. I do genuinely care about all the kids and I probably over communicate because my mind naturally goes to the worst case scenario. I also worked way too hard for my license to lose it over cut corners so I do my due dillegence and make sure nothing can be blamed on me. I definitely understand not every school nurse cares the way I do and I’ve been teased for it by others, unfortunately some nurses become jaded or lose their compassion over time.
