My cousin had a surprise pregnancy at 43 and she had every single (common) complication in the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Additionally,I will love this book, that she never had with her first 2 back in her 20s. It’s a bit ironic that those feelings come roaring back around 18 years later when you can’t wait to get those annoying/obnoxious teenagers out of your home. Or maybe run the Paris Marathon as a warm up.. a friend told me the Paris Marathon was easy compared to her first birth. I’m with your wife on this- it’s factually incorrect and cringe. I think it’s better to say “we’re having a baby” I am not a fan of the term at all. We are having a baby is fine. We are pregnant is wrong (unless both people in the couple are in fact, pregnant). When my wife was pregnant I did not use this phrase. She had a very rough time of it and to say that would diminish the suffering she experienced. But you’re not pregnant are you? She’s pregnant. No matter how much support you provide it is not the same thing as the absolute incredible change the body goes through carrying a baby. For some people their body is never the same. Some people even die. It is not the same sacrifice to just support your partner but it is all you can do to thank them for the massive sacrifice they’ve done for you and your child.
Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt- About us
Your wife’s right. Parents should be equally responsible for their children but in reality they’re not. Women give up their bodies. They have to get new clothes and they stretch out favorites. People touch their stomachs without asking. They ask inappropriate questions then judge. Are you breastfeeding or not. Will you be a stay at home mom? They are ones that deal with birth control or plan B. The list goes on. “We’re pregnant” is imo foolish to say. Only 1 person is pregnant. The other person biologically isn’t able to get pregnant. My feelings on the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this term are that my feelings don’t matter. I feel like if a pregnant person doesn’t want their partner to use the phrasing, then, nope, and if the couple does like saying it that way, then fine, and, since my wife and I don’t have kids and aren’t planning on it, I have no opinion. I understand your point but it’s a biological fact that she is the only one who is pregnant and the only one who will give birth. ‘We’ don’t have morning sickness, nausea, weight gain, hormone changes, cravings, and so on.
I always said we were gonna have a baby but I didn’t like saying “we’re pregnant”. Wife was carrying, not me. We’ll be parents but til that kid comes out, she’s the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this pregnant one but WE were expecting You’re totally wrong. Accept your wife is right. Accept that childbirth can actually kill a woman and realise nothing you can do during the pregnancy is actually equivalent to carrying and growing a mini human for 9 months before pushing it out of a way too small whole or having it cut out of you. I agree with your wife. The non-pregnant partner will never understand what it’s like to be pregnant. It’s mentally and physically exhausting and HARD. My pregnancy was utterly miserable because I was so sick and in pain all the time. If my husband had thought he was doing equal work to me in this pregnancy, I probably would’ve lost it. P.S. He did an amazing job supporting me and I appreciate everything he did. I couldn’t have gotten through it without him.

About Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt
Even the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this most supportive partner is not equal to growing a child. It’s just not the same. I agree with what everyone has said and believe “we’re expecting” is the better term for both partners to use. I hate it. Straight up despise. It’s like when I do something, and then my husband says we did it. No the f*ck WE did not. I did it. You already got your answer and “get it.” But I will also add that pregnancy is very risky for a woman’s health. I have had closer than I’d like brushes with DEATH in pregnancy and it’s more common than most people realize. Also it’s not just 9 mos. Her body will be changed forever and maybe in dramatic ways. My body shape will never be the same. I developed high blood pressure after a pregnancy complication. I managed to lose weight and get below pre-pregnancy weight and some of my clothes never fit again despite being a lower weight. Then I had another pregnancy later and my body is just hanging into the weight a long time after. And forget boobs. It takes a toll. I also got new facial hairs after every pregnancy. And there is just the absolute weird feeling of everything happening inside your body which is no longer your own and may not be for a long time if you breastfeed.
As much as you think you may be helping. It’s not about those 9 months. You can help with the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this risk of death she is taking. You can’t help the bladder leaks she may get when she gets older as a result of pregnancy and all the other changes. Your support is SO important though and please know it is needed well beyond the 9 months I wish I’d known about this part. I went back to my pre pregnancy weight but my pant size was still 3 sizes bigger. I went from a 4 to a 10, it confused the shit out of me at first. I hate it. When a person gets sick, they get care too, but their caregiver doesn’t go around saying ‘we have cancer.’ I get dads need to feel involved. As they should. But this particular approach really annoys the hell out of me. “We re having a kid” or “expecting” does the same job just as well. Prognancy is a physical condition that falls on the woman. A husband still can and must help and care, but he cannot share the physical part of pregnancy.
Only 1 person is growing a human for the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this greater part of a year right in the middle of their body and busting it open to birth it. WE are parents. WE are expecting. WE will soon welcome our new baby. But yes: I am pregnant. Being pregnant was such an assload of ass that birthing was welcome. If my husband had tried to claim that any support on his part made our contributions somehow equal at that point I would have divorced his ass. We’re pregnant is stupid and inaccurate. Pregnancy is a whole ordeal where you body changes repeatedly over a 9 month period as well as needing additional time post birth to recover from the ordeal of birth. It would be like saying “we’re on our period”. It’s not what’s happening and doesn’t reflect that the pregnancy is what someone else’s body is going through.
I don’t know who started this but it’s gross. I hate it. And it’s so often the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this expectant father who keenly embraces “we”; rarely the mother. Linguistically, it is incorrect in a way that becomes rude/weird. Pregnancy is a medical condition. You, a presumably cis-man, cannot be pregnant. Your presumably cis-wife can be. She would experience ALL of the physical changes and conditions, not you. Yes, you help, but your body is not vastly altered by the experience. You won’t even experience tremendous swings in hormones and mental health that can last through pregnancy and up to 18-24 months post partum. She will as a part of the medical condition that is pregnancy. Think of it this way. If you discovered you had cancer, and your partner was going around saying “We have cancer,” how would you feel? Now, compare that to “We’re going through cancer.” There’s a big difference in assuming equality of experience between someone who actively has cancer and their partner supporting them through it.
As someone experiencing literal heart failure from my pregnancy, this sort of thing really grinds me. No, we are not “pregnant”. We are expecting a baby. This is something where semantics actually matter. The same way I find it grating when someone asks my husband if he’s “babysitting” our toddler. I would definitely shift your thinking here because the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this burden of pregnancy on a woman’s physical and mental health is huge. In no way should a man try to pretend like he’s pregnant too. “We’re pregnant” definitely doesn’t work. Most other phrases that people use are fine though, like “we’re expecting”. We’re pregnant is a ridiculous way to phrase it. Nobody would say “We’re giving birth.” Stick with “we are having a baby” Hate it, unless both of you are women and both pregnant. Then, it’s possibly one of the most idiotic statements.
I hate it. Only one person is physically pregnant. “We’re having a baby” works just fine, since both people are having the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this baby and caring for the child. But pregnancy itself isn’t something both people are doing. “She is pregnant, and I am expected to bring her a banana split, sans banana, add pickle and peanut butter. God save the Queen.” It is moronic and anyone who uses this expression should be sterilised to prevent their stupidity from propagating further. Unless of course they are a pair of female partners who do in fact both happen to be pregnant at the same time. Not to get too political but this seemingly innocent co-opting of a woman’s pregnancy is indicative of the current state of men’s governance over choice and bodily autonomy for women. IMH(male)O. Supporting someone doing something is a far cry from doing the thing. WE are not pregnant. SHE is pregnant. WE are expecting, WE are having a baby, but only one of us is permanently changing our bodies and risking our lives. Nope. I’m old school. I don’t get periods or cramps, or morning sickness, or sweats, or lugging a growing belly around, worrying about post natal weight loss, the pain of childbirth, etc etc. I’m not pregnant, and I’m not going to dilute or take away from what she has to go through. I couldn’t possibly care less. The couple gets to pick the exact language they want to use. I am not going to nitpick over it.
Meh. As someone currently pregnant, there are other more irritating things to deal with. This is neither here nor there for me. Really don’t like it. I think ‘we’re expecting’ is fine but not ‘we’re pregnant’. Pregnancy is a specific, incredibly difficult and quite dangerous process undertaken exclusively by the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this person carrying the baby, and no matter how supportive or loving their partner is, they aren’t going through it themselves. ‘Equally responsible for the child’ doesn’t mean ‘bearing an equal share of the burden of pregnancy’. You can be the best and kindest and most supportive partner in the world and you still aren’t dealing with one moment of the physical toil and danger of pregnancy. It’s weird and inaccurate. We aren’t pregnant. She’s not pregnant either I’m pretty sure, but when she is, I still will not be.
If a man can get pregnant. He can say “we.” Only one of the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this people is actually pregnant. The correct terms is “we’re expecting a baby!” or “we’re going to have a child.” Not we are pregnant. Makes me so annoyed. Unless you’re a couple with both having a uterus and both gestating at the same time, I’m going to look at you (plural, general you) really weird if you tell me “we’re pregnant.” “We’re awaiting a baby” is right there and perfectly fine. I also hate the word “journey” used for anything besides an actual trip somewhere. “During my pregnancy journey” is stupid. Where the fuck you going, Diane? except to the hospital? ANYWAY!! I sailed through my pregnancies, no problems at all. My mister suffered hideously. He couldn’t eat normally due to nausea. He couldn’t sleep, was uncomfortable all night. He had to pee every 30 seconds. He had weird food cravings, like tuna fish and peanut butter sandwiches. Somehow he managed to gain nearly 20 pounds. Mood swings daily. The old-timers in my family elbowed each other in the ribs and chortled that “he was carrying the baby”. Once the babies were born and home, he spent the next dozen years getting up a couple of times a night to check on them.
We are not pregnant. Sorry, that is totally lacking understanding of the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this woman going through the pregnancy. We are going to have a child, yes, but one of you is definitely not pregnant. I hate the “WE” thing in a relationship in any context. In my mind, it’s a symptom of being a part of the most annoying type of couple. The woman is the one who is pregnant, not the man. It doesn’t matter if the man is also doing a lot of work. Refusing to accept “we’re pregnant” does NOT mean I don’t acknowledge the man’s contributions. We’re pregnant is not a thing.. She is pregnant. You’re both having a baby. But she is the one growing a person. It’s ridiculous. Pregnancy is a medical condition. Only the person actually carrying the foetus is pregnant. “We’re expecting our baby in April” etc is fine; “we’re pregnant” is weird & creepy. It’s up there with people referring to their pets as children, not quite realizing how much more work kids are than a dog or cat. not everything has to be literal, thats the beauty of language. if it makes them feel more like a team, a collaborative effort, so be it, nothing wrong with that As the supporting partner in two births, I am backing up your wife and telling you, gently and kindly, to sit down.
But do take a class on babywearing. Because you can’t carry the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this fetus, but you can ABSOLUTELY carry the baby. Wraps are best, but the carriers are ok when they’re a bit older too. Seriously learn to tie a wrap to wear the baby. It saved my sanity. “We’re pregnant” sounds really stupid. My husband isn’t the one going through wacky hormones, sore back/feet and heartburn right now, I am. “We’re having a baby” is much better. If someone’s is referring to her and her husband’s girlfriend being pregnant at the same time. It seems like an appropriate expression. I had never put any thought into it until this post but I think your wife is right. I’m a man with no kids but I can’t imagine all the support one can muster being as hard as actually being pregnant.
Nope, it’s like saying ‘we’re going to work and do a 20hr shift digging with our bare hands’. When one of you is sat on the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this sofa watching TV. Having a few minutes of fun doesn’t make ‘we’ pregnant. I’ve only started hearing this since there have been gender reveal parties. I’ve heard both parties began saying this due to the woman wanting the man to be included. Idk. This was never a saying that I’ve used. I personally get weirded out by the phrase because men are in fact not pregnant and do not undergo any of the pains that accompany pregnancy My wife is currently pregnant. I say we’re having a baby, we’re expecting or just that she’s pregnant. I think we’re pregnant sounds silly but it doesn’t really bother us on any fundamental level. I’m not pregnant, I’m just picking up the pieces that her hormones leave behind. Aside from filling hot water bottles, making beans on toast at all hours of the day and occasionally being kicked out of bed for breathing to loud, not a lot has changed for me. At least not relative to how much change and work is going on for her.
The phrase you want is “we’re having a baby” or “we’re expecting”. You’re both expecting a baby but only one of you is expecting to give birth. Once the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this child arrives you are both equally responsible for care, but during pregnancy it simply can’t be equitable. You just do the best you can to be supportive, and that’s great, but pregnancy is just not something that can be shared equally if only one of you can physically be pregnant. The vitriol toward “we’re pregnant” doesn’t make any sense to me – obviously the pregnant woman is doing the hard work! If “we’re pregnant” is part of some pattern of male bad behavior in a relationship, then interpret it that way. Context is important but lacking on this forum.
I’ve heard it in the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this wild and in every case I read it as enthusiasm and commitment, which is usually how it’s meant. Not every offhand comment is patriarchal or underhanded. Let’s all let people be excited that they are having babies. Quite entertaining to those of us who have actually been pregnant, but it’s honestly not worth harping on folks who are excited about the new addition to their family. Let em say it and go giggle to yourself in private. My thoughts are it’s a little cringe at best, but if that in sincerely how these two people are framing it, then that is how I will also frame their totally shared pregnancy. Maybe it’s your wording or how your wife actually said it, but men need support through the process of becoming a father also. I’m not taking away everything that a woman experiences physically/mentally during pregnancy and childbirth, it’s very clear. But men go through some shit too, it’s just different, and it’s overlooked.
If you’re not physically pregnant then you don’t get to say “we’re pregnant”, you are not pregnant. You can say “we’re having a baby” or “my wife/partner is pregnant” or “we’re expecting” It’s weird/incorrect but doesn’t personally bother me. Everyone knows who is actually doing the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this work. I always assume that people say it to show a “team spirit” or something like that. Medically, only one of you (unless you’re a lesbian couple and each partner is pregnant at the same time) is pregnant and risking their life/health. Unless he’s at risk of penis splitting in two during childbirth, he ain’t pregnant. We’re having a baby We’re expecting No your not fucking pregnant, you do not need to vomit on the daily, pee every 5 seconds, suffer round ligament pain, back pain, cry at adverts, have problems bending over, have problems getting out of bed, feel like you are going to poo out bowling ball…..they only happen to the pregnant person.
The terminology people use to refer to their own pregnancy is entirely their business. I’m not involved, I don’t get an opinion. I think it sounds foolish and corny, but whatever. People can lavel themself in their relationships as they find best, as long as both agree. To echo many of the Philadelphia 76ers basketball court NBA playoffs shirt Besides,I will do this responses: we have 3 children and had 8 total pregnancies in the process to having our family. I needed help from him all three of the pregnancies that were viable but it just did not make sense to my husband after multiple miscarriages (these were physically painful, heartbreaking, and took a toll on us both), nausea and GERD throughout each pregnancy, and 3 c-sections to deliver each kid to say that he was pregnant, too. He also could not breastfeed any of them and each kid had breastfeeding issues that I had to remedy which was sometimes painful, bloody, and always time consuming. Yes of course I had a choice to do that rather than bottle feed and it was the choice I made for my kids. It feels disrespectful and frankly ignorant for men to say “we’re pregnant.” Biologically speaking if you’re a cis-male you cannot be and you do not have to deal with all the potential symptoms, discomforts, and recovery associated with pregnancy and effects afterwards. It’s a lot to recover from and your body, even if it’s healthy afterward will never be the same.
