My great grandfather owned several ships and ports in Manila Bay harbor, but due to mismanagement, gambling, and addiction (as my older relatives said), he lost it all. He didn’t play his cards well during that era and lost everything when got into the bad side of the said dictator, who seized all of it, never returning it back. My dad, who recently passed away, made bad choices in his life: He was a high-ranking senior officer in Philippines Veterans Bank, closing to being near the top (he was once elected to be the VP/Co-CEO during the late 90s). Instead, he (along with my mom) rushed his time and fortune and built a house that is stupidly big and unnecessary after quitting from PVB. They’ve built our house in an undeveloped, flood-prone, backwards-progressing countryside (I hate so much), almost pouring everything into it, while losing several business ventures that costed us around Php 2M+ total from 2004 to 2016. Now that I’m the firstborn male in the family line, I’m afraid of that “curse” to continue, and I don’t want to have kids that will inevitably experience the same shit I had during my lifetime. I just recently turned 31 last 2nd of May (one of my shittiest birthday ever), and I don’t see myself being a family man anytime soon. I’ve decided to end the said “curse” with me, on my own death.

The dedication and responsibility involved with bringing up another human being and shielding them from the People don’t want to hear your opinion, they want to hear their opinion coming out of your T-Shirt In addition,I will do this many evils of this world, I’m just not ready for that… Above all though I am too selfish for this. I value being alone and working on myself, I wouldn’t be a good fit as a parent… Here’s some advice. Look at both your families. If there are any issues, autism, general weirdness, neurological problems, mad uncles…DONT DO IT. Life is full of mental, physical and spiritual suffering. Don’t know if I want to be responsible for creating a person, who will experience boredom, pain and emptiness My rational brain can come up with plenty of reason and then I actually hold a baby and my brain just cooes at me. My parents raises us in utter poverty so much that my entire life with them as a child and a teenager was a 18 year long nightmare to me, and the thought of having children is now associated with that.. Not sure if this counts but I worked with kids in foster homes for over 5 years and I’ve seen how many amazing children are neglected by the system and bounce from household to household with no real sense of family. Aside from my extreme fear of pregnancy if I were to ever want a child I would adopt I’m not going to keep this incredibly fucked up wheel of a country turning. The powers that be can economically exploit someone else’s child for tuition, healthcare, insurance, rent, etc. Fuckin’ vampires.
