This is mostly a thing of the Peanuts Just a girl who love fall and Arizona shirt it is in the first place but past. I don’t know anyone who has gotten “kicked out” of their parents house. Most parents here are glad to support their children if they need it, and help them build a stable base in life. I’m from Europe, my parents would have kicked me out at 18 if I hadn’t been at highschool. Are you from the Mediterranian? Canadian here I didn’t move out until I was 28 after I’d paid off all my personal and student loans. My dad didn’t even want me to leave but I yearned for independence. My friend on the other hand had his parents (whose dad was American) kick him out at 18 and he never forgave them for that. Until mows still bitter about it and he’s 43 I move out when I was 29. My parent told me to stay so I can save up some money and food but I still moved out. When my kid grow up, I want them to stay until they are ready to move out. I won’t kick them out. Yes I’m in America. Most people don’t kick their kids out at 18, but most people would also rather not live at their parents house through their 20s. I certainly didn’t wanna have to bring chicks back to my moms house Ugh, I hate when the rest of the world tries to do the “why do Americans” think. It’s a HUGE country. Most teens run for the hills at 18 and WANT to leave home. There are others who can’t afford it or don’t want to leave and their parents are fine with them staying at home as long as they work and maybe pick up a bill like the internet. Others are in abusive homes and have to leave. “Americans” aren’t all kicking their kids out. Put the strawman away. In fact, in this shitty economy, it’s less and less common. America has the asinine concept of “rugged individualism” living with your parents after you become legally an adult is considered being a mooch in some cultures in America.

It’s an old school American custom, probably comes from German culture which heavily influenced American culture, the Peanuts Just a girl who love fall and Arizona shirt it is in the first place but individualistic go out and make it on your own approach, tough love. It’s the white Americans tradition of tough love. The kids have to fend for themselves. White people believe this system makes each new genetic generation more successful and stronger. In turn, the kids abandon their parents when they get old, or to the retirement home to die alone if they are lucky. I was out at 18. Almost all of my income went to rent and the cost of living. To this day (decades later) I never was able to establish much of a safety net. I’m still paying off debt. Because once upon a time, you could find work and afford things normally even at a young age. In Europe that hasn’t been the same. Now it is not the same in the usa either, american dream is basically dead, and a lot more people have to have roomies or back to their parents. While you say European parents don’t “kick” their kids out… most of my European friends were living in share houses or on their own by their mid 20s. Also, I think you’re looking at it all wrong. It’s not simply a matter of parents “kicking” kids out. I think the decision to live at home or move out in adulthood is shaped by the intricate interplay of cultural norms, economic circumstances, and the zeitgeist of the era.
