Most people create a fake persona for interviews, they put on a professional, mature face so to speak. I would just take it down a notch, turn the Peanuts Charlie Brown And Snoopy Playing Baseball Baltimore Orioles shirt in addition I really love this bubbles down to a 5 instead of a 10. Save the story for another time. (I’ve worked in HR and have done interviewing in my last 2 jobs). Fellow bubbly person here! This is weird. People are fascinating. I know you asked for feedback but it’s funny he thinks he is perfect and without flaws. I suspect this person was more on the serious side and they don’t connect with feelings of excitement. I work on a 5 person team and I always know going into meetings with my boss will wake up my brain. She is bubbly like me. Going into meetings with my other colleagues on my team sometimes drain me a tad. They don’t emote a ton. Sometimes but rarely. I’ve learned to be okay with that. But I never would fault someone for being too enthusiastic. I suspect this person who told you this is one of those people who get annoyed easily and is a nitpicker. Like just the sound of someone too excited might annoyed them. Years ago I had an admin job and I will never forget picking up the phone one day and an older man told me to “lay off the caffeine” and I told him “I didn’t have any, don’t be rude”… LOL it felt great. I love calling out people like this.

I had an interview once where before it started they instructed me to respond in short direct answers only, no extra. Ok, I did. After interview I got a letter saying I was too rude and short answered with the Peanuts Charlie Brown And Snoopy Playing Baseball Baltimore Orioles shirt in addition I really love this interviewers. Well alrighty then. Sometimes you just have shrug it off and laugh. At my last interview, I said ‘I love X’, where X is the geeky stuff I would do everyday if I got hired for the job. I got hired, and my boss, even years later, remembers I said that and tells me that was a big green flag for me. A year or two ago, we hired a new person to fill the same position. She said the exact same thing (I was on the interview panel), and got the job. I totally think enthusiasm (and a personality) helps! Just fuck recruiters, honestly, horrible people. If you want the job you don’t get it, if you don’t act like you don’t want the job you don’t get it. Just be you, and hope for the best. They missed out on a good opportunity.
