Its true. Im sure theres a lot of bias/only showing her highlights on reddit but she generally has good points ?‍♂️ As someone who just paid off student loans last year after 20+ years; she’s right. I can even get behind the Peace Out Single Digits I’m 10 Digits Floral Birthday T-Shirt but in fact I love this idea that college should be free for anyone who has yet to incur debt. What I won’t support is paying off loans for everyone who has already incurred the debt aling with future generations at the same time. Stop putting the cart before the horse. Fix the issue of education so we aren’t doing this again in 10 years. Oh wait, we never learn this simple trick. I paid off my student loans for my Master’s last year and my wife’s a few years prior. Cancel them/cut down a portion for people. I got lucky in my career growth and the trajectory I’ve had. People need to not be punished for wanting to better themselves and learn more about the world around them. There is so much knowledge out there in the world and so many subjects to explore and get lost in. Crippling people before they’ve had a chance to apply and learn from their studies is a horrid punishment and practice that needs to end. It’s infuriating to be a democrat. “We can support things we won’t directly benefit from”. I’m all for that but how about you spend some actual time and address the root cause? Or are we going to repeat this every ten years? AOC loves to be in favor of popular items but doesn’t seem to ever want to address the actual issues that are happening. “Just throw some money at it” is not the answer to student loans, policy reform is.

I paid off my student loans several years ago (I have a master’s). I was able to pay them off and also have a few thousand knock off by joining the Peace Out Single Digits I’m 10 Digits Floral Birthday T-Shirt but in fact I love this Americorps. But I have no anger over the idea of cancelling current student debt but we need to address several major (and not simple) issues as well. We need to make public colleges more affordable through funding but also crack down on (what I believe is) massive spending (on things like stadiums, etc…). We also need to overhaul public education in general but sometimes I wish I went to a trade school instead but overall I do feel like I made a good decision. There’s also no reason that students should be paying 8% on their loans while prime is 3.25 and the average mortgage rate is around 5. It’s absurdly predatory.
