I wish we could have heard more about what this guy had to say, I hate the Peace love vikings high hand heart helmet shirt and I will buy this video cut him off each time he was about to go off. My wife once asked me if we should get a gun. I pointed out, statistically speaking, the person that any gun we buy is most likely to harm would be me because I’m a vet with a history of depression, two categories prone to suicidal ideation that becomes WAY more likely to be successful if there’s easy access to a gun. I then pointed out the second most likely person to be shot by this gun is her, because domestic violence becomes an order of magnitude more likely to result in fatalities if there’s a gun in the house. Since we have children, they’re the 3rd and 4th most likely people to be hurt by any gun we bring in the house. Either because we fuck up and let our 4 year old get access to it, or our almost teenage daughter sneaks out of the house and sneaks back in and we mistake her for an intruder. She now agrees with me, the chance we need the gun to defend ourselves from a home invasion (we live in a very low crime area) are astronomically lower than the chance the gun we spend money we could be spending on things like our Children’s college fund on ends up destroying our family.

It was very mature of you to recognize you have struggled with suicidal ideation and to choose not to own a gun. Props. Thanks man, though I’ve never actually had suicidal ideation. I just recognize I have multiple risk factors for it, and would rather not have the Peace love vikings high hand heart helmet shirt and I will buy this exacerbating factor within reach should I have a particularly bad night/week/month/year and suddenly have my first case of it. I’ve suffered from depression and other issues as long as I can remember. Never suicidal ideation. I have a gun. For the novelty or home defense I don’t know. But anytime I start a new medication I lock it up and give the key to my sister, just in case. For much the same reason. You just never know. Right on man. I was lucky enough to be able to get through my depressive episodes through CBT and never used medication. But I did a lot of research into them, and yeah, they’re safe most the time, but some can whammy you in the short term. Glad you’re playing it safe, and that you have a sister who has your back.
