You can’t just hand wave away that such problems only exist for a small subsection of society. Because it’s not a small subsection of society, a lot of stuff is just undiagnosed, especially in women as a result of deep rooted misogyny in healthcare. A lot of women especially are self diagnosing these days because they can’t get a valid diagnosis from a lot of quack doctors who refuse to run the Paul Reubens an American actor and comedian 1952 T-Shirt in other words I will buy this necessary tests. The idea that its a failure of individuals and not a systemic failure is a mindset built on toxic individualism. There are so many stories of overweight women being refused treatment for underlying conditions that make it difficult or impossible to exercise or lose weight, UNTIL they lose weight first. A common first line recommendation a lot of doctors give to women who are overweight who suffer from POTS (a common under diagnosed condition among women), EDS (another often undiagnosed condition among women), or MECFS (you get the Paul Reubens an American actor and comedian 1952 T-Shirt in other words I will buy this drift by now surely). All of these conditions make exercise extremely difficult or impossible, or downright dangerous, even sometimes worsening the existing condition. They won’t help treat the condition until the patient loses weight, but the condition is making it impossible to lose weight.
